My  rosacea reacts very badly to soap. I use cetaphil  face cleanser.
I’ll check that out - thanks.

Well,  presumably the face cleanser does that since it works.
Ooh... I wouldn't be doing eyelid scrub with face cleanser. 😱😱

I didn't say I did an eyelid scrub. I wash my whole face, including my eyes and eyebrows, thoroughly and ,as I say,  that woks for me so why would I change what I do? ,
  • Do people find that they always have a red face? Or does it vary person to person?

My GP is struggling to come up with answers.

I get more facial flushing feelings, warm face, the feeling of sweating on my face but not actually sweating but not very red in the face.

I have eye conditions and a visual impairment for which I am registered partially sighted and suffer with dry eyes and have been treated for keratitis in the past.

I’m also T1 diabetic and have been since a child.

At first I was referred to an endocrinologist and they looked at various hormone levels, cortisol and even tested me for a Neuroendocrine tumour and everything has come back as normal.

She suggested to ask the GP to consider rosacea as that often has links to facial flushing but my GP has said she doesn’t think so because I would constantly have a red face. Is that the case?

I’m out of ideas, the GP seems to have a shut up and put up attitude and I’m having to suffer about 3 days out of 7 every week with symptoms that become unbearable.

I'm pretty sure that I have rosacea, although I've never been formally diagnosed - I would have gone to the GP this year with it, as it has significantly flared up this year, but events conspired against me.  I have bumpy, sore red blotches all over my nose, including into the nostril edges and spilling over onto my cheeks and I have a cluster on my right eyelid.  Certainly the GP mentioned it a few years ago when I had a sore face and was very flushed.

I read this thread a while ago and decided that I'd nothing to lose by trying the eyelash wash routine.  I've been doing it well over a month now and I think it improved things a little, but not massively.  I got into the habit of taking all mascara off at night and initially, just washing my eyes repeatedly with warm water.

A few days ago I was looking for a new toothpaste and picked out a box that I thought was my quarry and found it was a tube of aloe vera gelly.  My Mum had got it in Switzerland a year or two ago for a rash or something that occurred on holiday and when my sister and I cleared her stuff, found two new tubes, so took one each, as it's good for burns, sunburn etc.  I'd forgotten that I had it, but remembered reading somewhere that aloe vera is good for rosacea.  So I dabbed a bit on my newly washed face where it was sore and it was a strange sensation, feeling very cold as it evaporated.  I wasn't sure it was going to be suitable, as it left my skin a bit tacky.

But later in the day I remembered it and had a look and my nose was tangibly calmer.  So I've been dabbing a bit on when I wash, letting it dry, before moisturiser.  After about 4 days, my face is the best it's been for a year or two.  It's significantly better visually and much less hot and sore.  I hope when it runs out that I can find something of the same quality - I think this was probably pretty expensive.

@MarkN88 - I've been perpetually prone to flushing - my whole face goes hot and red frequently - but certainly not permanently - I actually woke with a hot red face this morning, but it settled an hour or two later.  It's usually something specific that actually sets it off - the heating being on or sitting near a heat source, like the fan on in the car, alcohol, talking on the phone, for some reason, and going from cold to hot temperatures, cold wind on my face.  I was under the impression that a tendency to flush easily was associated with rosacea - not necessarily a constantly flushed face.

Is your blood glucose under decent control, long term high BG (or seesawing levels) can cause a whole host of issues that might impact on your face in that way.

I was posting about cleaning eyes as a control for the demedox mites - not about washing the face. Eyelids are where the mites live, crawl out from at night to explore your face and cause the damage!

BOOJEWELS - your post is interesting, glad that you've found something which is working for you.

MARK - this condition doesn't normally present with a permanently flushed face. I flush at the first hint of alcohol!

This photo is of my face a few years ago before I found the demodex mites connection.  A couple of days after this the pustules appeared, I was  in a right old mess.  Kill the mites, control the cycle (as they will come back) and things get better.

Yeah my GP didn’t think I had it anyway. But now we are at the stage where no one seems to know what’s going on.
