    Keep checking ?

Got Virgin media in the area ?

Got a good 4G signal? If so consider MiFi dongle etc.

OK so could everyone enlighten me if I go this dongle route in my home where do I start?

Anything will be faster than the 1 mb/s speed i am getting but of course the data usage will be much higher with 4g right?
    What are the options?

data charges can be higher. But if you end up ditching your land line all together, should be ok

First step is with a mobile phone, to identify what is the best mobile provider singal at your house.

There are only 4: EE, 02, Vodafone, 3
All others piggy back off these networks.

I believe 3 is very cheap, so if you have a good 3 signal that is good news.

Otherwise you can order free phone sims off the providers website and test the signal in your phone (assuming its unlocked)

out of interest do you have a smart phone?

Once you have identified acceptable/preferred networks, you can choose a tariff. (hopefully someone else can help with that) and see if it will work for you.

and then you need to get some small box/dongle to put the sim in.
I guess this depends if you just use 1 computer, or want WiFi throughout the house.

Would any deal beat £20 / month truly unlimited with no setup costs over 18 months for Fibre up to 38mb? This has now become available.

Are there any things I need to consider before signing up? Or would a 4g dongle be better/cheaper? I have a smartphone yes.

Unless you are a very low user 4g is not going to be cheaper than your £20 pm if that's all in .

I suppose where I am at thinking wise what are the benefits of a fix 18mth Fibre deal £20 p/m unlimited with a guaranteed speed of 35 mb/sec over a 4G deal? And vice versa?

The OP's download speed is ~1.3Mbps.

This is why 4G is being recommended. However it is still no good if you intend to download lots of movies

If you can get fibre, stick with that
