    Just did the

    Personality and Writing Set Four

Survey looking at 15 sets of writing from 21 year olds it said it would take 30 mins but took over an hour
I did the one with the set of 11 year olds and that said it'd take 60 minutes, which it did. I saw the 21 year olds one this morning and at that point it said it'd also take 60 minutes. I didn't do it as I didn't have 60 minutes free.
  • That was meant to say 11 year olds not 21 year olds.
On the front page it said 36 mins

Ah, I assumed that on this morning's I'd make a mistake and not noticed it was 21 year olds rather than 11 year olds! I can't see how it took anyone 36 minutes given that the video you had to watch was at least 10 minutes long then you had lots of essays to assess. I probably took about as long as you did as it was just over an hour.

I think I saw one similar to that a couple of nights back and thought beggar that, sounded like a lot of work for the money.

If you send a message to the researcher, you can then look in archived messages and it will tell you the start and end times for your study.

I've just chased up the one I got paid 4 dollars for 39 minutes. I also reported it to Prolific yesterday.

I started the 11-year-olds' essays one, skipped most of the video as it didn't seem like it would be necessary (after opening it in another tab so I could watch the rest of it if it turned out it was), then it took me so long to decipher the first bit of writing as the spelling and grammar was appalling, even for an 11-year-old, and frankly judging people's personality from a short bit of writing like that is not something I'm great at anyway and I was at a bit of a loss as to how to set most of the sliders, so I decided I couldn't be bothered and returned it.

The very same thought struck me.  If they were genuine essays written by people, rather than made up by the researchers, I really do despair at the level of education some kids appear to have received !

  • I had to Google what ambiguous meant on that survey

Anyone manage to complete this one?  I tried about 5 rounds and each time I either 'failed' the apparently simple attention checks or didn't complete all the questions.  Gave up in the end and handed it back as a waste of time.

Is anyone else having problems with the new look prolific.  It keeps crashing on me and seems to take longer for studies to be approved?

Nope, returned here too. It didn't seem to be loading all of the questions, and wasn't worth the hassle of retrying for $0.95.
