  • Thank you very much, Value.  I have about £7 approved just now and about £3 awaiting approval.

I'll withdraw the £7 now, as you suggest.  If I am thrown out would the £3 be lost?  It does not matter but I have just been discouraged lately and I am interested to know..I appreciate your reply.

I think you would lose the £3. But things might not be as bad as you fear and it might be OK!

If you're feeling a bit discouraged then maybe you take a break from studies for a couple of weeks and see how you feel after that?
  • Thank you very much, Value.  Yes, if I'm not thrown out, a break would be a really good idea.

Although the rewards definitely help a lot, I  enjoy participating and some of the studies are really interesting.

It's just seemed like a difficult run of it for me with studies  lately.

    Thanks again for replying.

You could wait until your £3 is approved and withdraw £10. Just give yourself a break until the remaining surveys are approved.

Asking for a friend who has just had an issue with her first survey. It was asking about a recent hospital stay, which didn't apply to her. Somehow she's been messaged by the researcher saying they won't pay as she hasn't completed the survey, which she has acknowledged. I think she must have sent it through as a Completed survey by mistake. I think she has received a Rejection, which isn't brilliant for a first survey. Is she able to change this to a Returned survey which is what she should have done but didn't know how to do at that point?

The only way it can be changed to 'Returned' is for her to send the researcher a message explaining that it's her first study and she didn't fully understand how Prolific works,  and ask if they'll remove the rejection on the condition that she then returns the study (by clicking the arrow icon to the right of the survey on the Submissions screen). Most researchers are pretty decent and would probably oblige. Its important she's gets it changed if possible as Prolific only allow participants to get around 5% rejections so she risks having her account closed if she gets a further one anytime soon.

I did a 34p survey yesterday, it said there could be a bonus.  Bonus was 4p.  I'll try not to let it change my life.

  • Just did one for which the description said, "Please consider filling out this screening questionnaire only if you can participate in the main study ( "Images and emotions PART 2" ) which takes ~50 min." I assumed the screener would give details of when the main study will be, but it didn't. So I have no way of knowing if I will be available to take part in it. Still, in principle I can do a 50 minute study if it is available at a time when I have 50 minutes free, so I submitted the screener, and if it turns out I'm not available at the required time, that's their fault, not mine.

I’ve had bonuses of 1p in the past!
