Prolific Academic Survey Alerts

I've looked into this, and found that when you fill in a Google form, if you are logged into Google, your Gmail address will show at the top of the form - but the owner of the form will not see it. I've also seen comments from form authors who see their own Gmail address when they preview their form, and are concerned it will be visible to everyone who uses the form, but this is also not the case. Everyone sees their own Gmail address at the top of the form, and nobody - including the form author - sees anybody else's.

Clearly, that is something which Google really needs to address!

Hi again, thanks to you all for useful and quick replies. The info from Olliebean (who I see is a Prolific veteran
) is very helpful - I have never used Google Forms for anything else, so hadn't not seen this issue before. That said, Prolific and/or researchers might reasonably have predicted that seeing your email there would cause some participants to hesitate. I might just ping a query to the researcher to explain in more detail why I did not take part - the system seems to be that I have to do this before making the wider point to Prolific support themselves.
Anyways, thanks again0 -
Language learning study
By Elizabeth Pankratz£3.15 • £13.00/hr14 mins0 placesIn this study, you'll first pay attention to a series of sentences in an unknown language. Then you'll be tested on your knowledge of the language.
Desktop only. Supported browsers are Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge—please do not use any other browsers for this experiment.
Six O'clock on a Saturday morning and this study appeared, which was quite good fun I thought. It recommends you use headphones and I did this so as to not disturb the rest of the family who were sensibly asleep in bed.
It took me just over seventeen minutes according to my stopwatch.
Hopefully there will a few more appearing today, as on Monday I will be attending my daughters graduation in Bristol so will not be available much of the day, so today may make up for it if i'm lucky

Select a scenario and talk to an AI about it

After a very quiet few days, with just one really short Study yesterday, I was very pleased to reserve a place on this study before 6 o’clock this morning. I followed the instructions (on video and printed) but, after my first question, there was no reply from AI. As informed, with no reply after 5 minutes, I accepted the option to end the conversation and Return to Prolific. Even ‘though I only asked one (of 15 possible) question I was given a Completion Code. I hardly expect to be given £14 for the 17 minutes I spent on the Study but the Study (with the Completion Code) did not seem to be treated as ‘Returned’. If this has happened to anyone else I would be pleased to hear the outcome.
(Sorry I don’t seem able to remove the bold print here.)

Just did the weirdest of surveys.
I had to select a gift for a colleague - I was taken to their website (which was dreadful) and twice was told to read how good the reviews are. They gave me a four digit code which had to be entered three separate times. The language was really odd.
I'm not sure if it was a plug for an Eastern Asia website but it just felt odd. Very strange scenario and even odder questions.
No personal info asked for or given and fee was paid immediately.

Deleted_User, I'm sure you'll get paid. I had one of the AI ones which was similar but for £9. The AI didn't respond and, like you, I waited then I got a completion code. It took a few days for the payment to be approved (while I also thought that it wouldn't end up being paid) but I was paid.1

Thank you, Value. That's encouraging. I really was eager to continue and hope to do better if given another opportunity.0

The AI studies are the best - I have had a couple not go beyond the first one or two responses and they always pay out. I got that £14 myself this morning - very happy as Sunday is usually very quiet.
