''Group Investment''-game; Only starting 3:50 PM GMT(now) until 4:00 PM (with bonus!)
By Behavioral Experiments£3.00 • £16.32/hr18 mins0 placesI completed this one yesterday, and received my £3 payment. The description states that I will "upon completion earn a bonus of an additional 0-6 pounds depending on decisions made in the task." I performed well in the task, and was very pleased to be told at the end of the study that my bonus would be £6. However today I have received a bonus payment of only £2. Did anyone else do this one, and receive a lower bonus than expected? I've messaged the researcher, asking if the remaining £4 of the promised bonus will be forthcoming.0 -
Edit - The first of 14 daily surveys arrived when predicted it would, but it was not a mobile only task as originally stated. They must have changed their mind.
Emotional Responses to Uncertainty (Part 1 - Baseline)
By unimelb.edu.auAnyone who completed the first part above on Sunday and was like me, expecting the first daily survey by now (it does state they will start 'tomorrow' in the text) and was concerned that they may be rejected from the project. All is not lost yet, as I contact the researcher and they stated that the daily surveys open from 6pm until 11:59pm this evening (Tuesday). They are in Australia so I assume there is some time zone strangeness going on (with me most likely).

How well can you remember health & well-being advice?
Hosted by ntu.ac.uk£10.00 • £10.00/hr60 minsI completed this study, having waited some time before finding an hour where I could have my speakers on (i.e. no Wimbledon!) - but was horrified at the end to be told that my payment would be in the form of a £10 Love To Shop voucher. Such vouchers are virtually useless where I live - the only place that takes them is Boots, and I very rarely shop there, preferring our independent pharmacy. I have reported the study and complained bitterly that if I had known I was going to be paid in a worthless-to-me voucher rather than in cash via Prolific, I would not have taken the study at all.

Study on how people describe themselves
By uwo.ca£0.62 • £6.56/hr5 mins0 placesIn this study, we are interested to find out more about how people view themselves on a number of different traits. This study takes about 6 minutes.
Nothing too taxing, just a tick box exercise, but according to my stopwatch it took me 9 mins to complete.
It was hosted on the Qualtrics platform and I consequently find it is slow to move from page to page for some reason and sometimes I get a pop up informing me I do not have an internet connection when plainly I do.
I am using a laptop with Linux Mint 18.3 XFCE that I installed for completing Prolific studies and it can be a bit quirky at times so could be the reason.

On a slightly different subject, the above study contained the following (not uncommon) statement:
"Before you start with the study, please switch off your phone/ music/ email notifications so that you can fully focus on the study. Thank you!"
I understand the sentiment and the reason for such a statement, but anyone who has worked for any length of time in a large vibrant modern office environment, with phones constantly ringing, people shouting over each others heads, computer fans whirring away, doors opening and closing, people walking back and fore and the noise of printers and photocopiers etc may question the wisdom of such a request.
It will not be the same for everyone obviously, but I am used to the noise after working for a number years in an environment like the one I describe above and find it odd if there is total silence around me while attempting to focus on a computer related activity.

I am getting lots of well paid studies popping up. Unfortunately I’m in transit from holiday and they all want laptops or tablets, neither of which I have. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1 -

That means that you cannot offer to pay or reward participants with other forms of payment (e.g. Amazon vouchers).
Participants are paid automatically when their submissions are approved. All participants are paid in GBP via Paypal."

I expect what's happened is that this study has been offered on more than one platform, and is paid via a voucher elsewhere, but on Prolific, the approval of your submission will result in automatic payment in the usual way. (The payment comes from Prolific, not direct from the researcher, and I'm sure Prolific would not look kindly on a researcher trying to pay them with shopping vouchers.)

All very quiet on Prolific for me. Plenty of Study notifications but, even when I click straight away, so far, mostly full. Yesterday I had a few occasions when twostudies came up at the same time. Even selecting the one with most places - still too late to get a place. Was pleased to get the Interview one so not completely unsuccessful and appreciated the £7.50 being paid straight away. Will be going out at lunch time so maybe some success later today.
