I've finally been accepted .. it's been over 6 months on the waitlist, but I'm in.. yay!

Well done for finally being accepted.

Yes, truth and consistency are important.

Remember, researchers can give feedback to Prolific about your data quality and just because they paid you for completing the study it does not necessarily mean that feedback was good.

But don't worry, as long as you are honest, consistent and give it your best shot you will be fine.  There is not a person on earth who doesn't make the occasional mistake.

I have been a member for almost four years and I am hardly a genius.

Risk management pre-test pilot (one of several)

You will read a scenario and then we will ask you a set of questions about your impressions of a risk report, followed by a set of unrelated questions.  The survey will take approximately 10 minutes in total.
    £1.50 • £14.59/hr

    6 mins

Logged on at 6.00 am as usual to find this one waiting.

I know nothing much about business risk management so do not expect much to come from this pilot, but who knows, I may have by chance selected the answers they were looking for.

Are you interested in Artificial Intelligence (AI) being fair?

We, researchers from City, University of London, would love to hear from you!

You will participate in a 30-minute survey where we will ask your perspective on AI systems and fairnesswho should be involved in representing your views, and how your views could be taken into account in the different stages of the AI system development. You will receive £5 within 3 working days after submission.

Please do not take part if you have taken any AI or machine learning classes, you design or develop AI systems as part of your job. Your submission will be rejected when multiple attention checks are failed, not all mandatory questions are completed, the survey is completed exceptionally fast, or answers show clear low effort throughout.

Devices you can use to take this study:

    • Desktop
    • Mobile
    • Tablet

A 30 minute study with lots of reading and typing to do, but only 15 minutes to complete it. Im almost sure it said 30 minutes to complete when accepting it at the start, so I was timed out. Reported it.

I had exactly the same experience, It did say 30 minutes on the intro and I completed it in less than that for sure. Also reported and messaged researcher.

Welcome, You're going to love it.  I've been a member for just under a year and I wish I'd joined earlier.  It does get addictive though, but most of the time it's a lot of fun - and the money is nice as well!
  • The role of the end-user in the development of responsible AI systems

I started this study and, although I know I was going over 15 minutes, I applied myself fully and  continued because I would have been impossible (for me anyway) to complete this study in anything like 15 minutes.

Needless to say, at the end, I was timed out.  I'm not pleased because surely they must know that 15 minutes for such a long Study is almost impossible.  Did anyone complete it successfully in 15 minutes without being timed out?

The same happened to me. I check my history and spent around 35-40 minutes due to the numerous written input required so not inappropriate against the 30 minutes mentioned in the study text.

The researcher clearly set up the parameter wrongly on Prolific. I have raised the issue with him or her but not yet reported it as Prolific ask to wait 7 days for a response. Has anyone previously experienced being timed out, challenged it and been successfully able to get rewarded?
  • Thanks albion22.  There really was no way of knowing in advance how much reading would be required and how much time would be involved in giving the explanations where required.  It really does seem unfair but it will be good to hear the outcome.

I'm not too optimistic because, in the past, such Researchers usually ignore the message but it will be good to hear something different this time.
