warby68 said:I've had a really good month on Prolific despite also encountering the same problems as others with lulls with no studies, Gorilla and other technical things. I'm on for a record amount in a single month.
Breaking my record is mainly due to this studyAccounting and financial planning skills
Hosted by Rhys Lewis
I did a trial of it when it paid £108 for an estimated 9h work. It took me 6.5h.
Its still doing the rounds with a reduced payment of £84 for the 7h average its actually taking, so £12 per hour.
It is quite specialised and intense with 'exam' style questions on about 15 topics BUT the key thing for anyone interested is you actually get 3 days to do it in which is not obvious at first as the max Prolific can allow is 11h. I dipped in and out over a weekend when I was home alone, physically laid up and bored stiff !!. You get a summary of your results and I was paid within 24 hours.
You need accounting or related experience with financials and management experience to have a decent go at it but thought it was worth pointing out the 3 day thing as many would dismiss it instantly because it seemingly needs an immediate 7 free hours . Its popped up 3 more times since so hopefully a few more people will get the chance. That sounds amazing and I have management experience but 'accounting or related experience with financials' is not going to be my area of expertise sadly so even if I did see it pop up I would be reluctant to attempt it for that reason alone.I have been so busy recently as well and have had to ignore long studies of any kind due to the chance of being interrupted with greater priorities being very high.Well done for accessing that one with such a good reward, imagine getting rejected though after all that work, what a nightmare scenario that would be.1 -
Funnily enough, its just popped up again with 42 places left. Still £84.1

It is our old 'friend' from Cardiff yet again sometimes known as YT Wang, Yating Wang, SKK, JK, Jason Brown etc, with yet another alter ego.
I wonder how much thought he gives to the names or is it a pin in a telephone directory sort of job?

Exploring phenotypic variation in mental wellbeing - Screening
By balliol.ox.ac.uk210 placesExploring phenotypic variation in mental wellbeing
CUREC Approval Reference: R77387_RE004
Please note that this is a screening questionnaire which is part of a larger study involving 3 research sessions on 3 consecutive days. Please complete this questionnaire only if you are happy to complete a research session today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow (lasting about 1h each).
The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between questionnaire measures of mental wellbeing and how people make decisions about emotional and reward information. In this screening, you will be asked to answer questions about your mental wellbeing. Based on your answers we will inform you whether you are eligible for the study. If so, you will be re-invited to take part in up to 3 research sessions on 3 consecutive days (the first one today, the second one tomorrow and the third one the day after tomorrow). The research sessions include some questionnaires and one or two tasks each, and will last approximately 1 hour. During the tasks,£0.88 • £9.16/hr5 mins
Plenty of places left on this one and I reserved a place, but sadly I am unable to guarantee I will be available for the 1hr follow up sessions so returned it.

Shame you weren't able to commit to it - the series was generously compensated with a bonus on top. The sessions did genuinely last about an hour though, and it was only through sheer luck that I was able to take and complete them (although there was a degree of flexibility in when you do them, so I completed them on my lunch breaks).1 -
The role of the end-user in the development of responsible AI systems
Just had another reply from the researcher of the study which timed out for lots of us last week
Dear participant,
Thank you for reaching out. I am working hard to provide some updates asap. We receive around 1300 responses instead of 400. Since we value the time and effort of all participants we would like to examine the situation in fine detail, but we need a few days to do so. I am manually checking all your responses. I hope this is appreciated despite the technical issue and waiting time. Hope to send some updates later today and proceed with the payment in the next few days.
Hopefully we will all receive some kind of payment for our time2 -
A question for the more long standing Prolific members. Does the quantity of studies drastically reduce over the summer and is it still worth logging on every day. I was just wondering as I have only regularly been doing studies since last Autumn but I've never had a week - even over Christmas, where I havn't been able to do some.0

I think we’ve all had tumbleweed weeks. It’s part of the prolific algorithm. I shouldn’t worry about it, they usually come back with a vengeance. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.2 -

But I mean do studies drastically reduce or completely stop in July and August when the universities are closed or are there still some here and there.
