Signed up for the waiting list but never got the confirmation email to verify. Tried again today and still no email. Have you tried using a different email? I had problems with hotmail, (not with Prolific), but with the doctor's surgery for repeat prescriptions, in never getting confirmation emails to verify. I opened an account with gmail and got the confirmation immediately. Might be worth trying a different email.Auntycaz said:

I only have one email and it is a hotmail account. I wonder if this could be why. Thank you for your help.koala987 said:

Hotmail does not have a good reputation. I have in the past compared it to a postman standing outside your door tearing up any letters he doesn't like the look of. Definitely I would recommend signing up for a Gmail account!

I think perhaps it is time for this thread to be retired and a new one started as a) Prolific now has a waiting list and b) it serves no purpose having "alerts" for surveys, as they are snapped up so quickly.Auntycaz said:
Thank you for this. I looked on the first page of this thread and it said to go via a link on the referals board. But I have no idea who makes decisions like that round here.1 -

In similar vein, I will not sign up for a study which requires me to read and memorise sentences for half an hour when I've just put hot porridge in my breakfast bowl.yupiteru said:In future I will leave Prolific alone until I've showered and had a chance to recuperate a little.
I think someone should do a study on how much participants need to be bribed with to eat cold porridge.Funny enough, I regularly get sent survey links from PopulusLive or Y live as they are now called, just as I am about to eat my evening meal.If I wait until I have eaten, the survey is usually full, so usually I try to eat with one hand and type with another, quite a feat of multi tasking sometimes. At least there is no clock counting down like with Prolific.Surely I cant be the only person who has an evening meal around 6 o' clock?I sometimes wonder if by sending the survey invitation at that time, they are intentionally attempting to filter out a certain demographic, but that is probably just my mind working over time.1 -
After securing a place this afternoon on:
Intrinsic Biases in Perceptual Inference Copy
I tried to start the Study straight away. This notice came up and I have never seen this on Prolific before: Warning. h.j.garthwaite/perceptual_inference_final does not have any assigned credit left and cannot be run. If you are the experiment designer, you can assign more credits to it on your experiment page.Otherwise please contact the experiment designer to let him or her know that the experiment requires more assigned credits to run."
It looks as if I have no alternative other than to 'Return' yet another Study. Has anyone else had this experience today. I feel as if there is an ever increasing number of Studies having to be returned.
After making several further attempts I eventually Returned the Study.

Just got paid for this study. My bonus was £2.30 which I was very pleased with as I didn't think I had done that well.olliebean said:yupiteru said:Verbal and Numerical
Reasoning
By Nelson Furtado0 placesThis assessment is designed to measure individual ability in Verbal and Numerical Reasoning. The assessment is divided into two sections, and a brief upfront introduction with instructions for each section will be provided.
£3.35 • £5.25/hr
38 mins
Began this study and completed the first section OK but when presented with the numerical side of things in the second section, I returned the study after a few pages as I was just guessing the answers.
Figures have never been my strong point and I did not want to risk a rejection and also did not want to receive a payment for a study I did not honestly complete.I got the numerical section first in this one. I think I did OK but the time limit meant I was having to rush a bit so I probably made mistakes. In the verbal section, I mostly only had time to skim the text. It seemed to me some of the answers were a matter of interpretation, rather than definite right or wrong. I'll be interested to see what bonus I get.I think in your situation I'd have soldiered on, even if I was just guessing. The questions were deliberately difficult to complete in the time limits, and I'm sure the researcher will have factored in that some people will resort to guesswork.1 -
Had the exact same problem I messaged the researcher and never received a reply shame as it was a good paying studyDeleted_User said:After securing a place this afternoon on:Intrinsic Biases in Perceptual Inference Copy

The number I have had to return recently has been increasing either due to survey full messages or study links not opening have had 2 today which I have had to return the usual reason being in my rush to get a place I have not read the survey description then after doing so discovered its not relevant to me 😮1 -
Yes, had exactly the same experience as you Deleted_User. I even sent a message to the researcher while the study was still active on my screen but they didn't reply so I eventually returned it as well.Deleted_User said:After securing a place this afternoon on:Intrinsic Biases in Perceptual Inference Copy
