Did anybody else get this message......what a cheek. I can't imagine anyone would post completion codes or am I being naive?
Greetings, I've reviewed the data in this experiment, and there were 1447 total funding requests, even though fewer than 600 people participanted in the experiment. This means that a vast majority of respondents simply entered a completion code without participating, likely because someone posted this to a common listserv. I'm going through record by record searching for Prolific IDs. If I do not find a Prolific ID associated with a complete response, I will be forced to reject the assignment, but I'd like to give you a chance to return the submission first so that I do not impact your record. Please return applicable submissions within the next 12 hours so that I can re-open this link for actual participants. Thank you. Sincerely, Tim

I was just gonna post this. It’s clearly an error with their survey rather than participants.Racheljaa said:Did anybody else get this message......what a cheek. I can't imagine anyone would post completion codes or am I being naive?

The idea that someone has posted completion codes is laughable, why would anyone bother? And surely ‘Tim’ can do a look up to identify any duplicate completion codes if he thinks that’s what happened?
I think what actually happened is they set the payment too high (£3.60 for 8 mins £24.67 per hour) and realised he hasn’t got the budget.5 -
Racheljaa, yes, I just got that message too. I had previously messaged this researcher as I had to return this study. It was one which wasn't accepting my Prolific Id as he'd set it to only accept numerals. I was surprised therefore to get his message this evening. I've responded back to him to tell him I didn't enter a completion code, I hadn't completed the study and I couldn't see how anyone could have entered one unless they'd completed the study.
I wondered if his list was somehow everyone who had started the study rather than everyone who had completed it?5 -
yeah i got that too . What a cheek i dont see anyway of doing what he suggests. If it was posted on a site then he will just need to reject all those who used the same code. Just report it to Prolific i have. Sounds like he wants to reopen it at and not pay as much as promised. Dont know whether to return it or not. Dont want a rejection.

Thank heavens for this forum - got the same message for that study as well. I came straight on here to see if anyone else had got it. I have returned the study even though I remember completing it.
I had submitted it with a 'no code' as I seem to remember that on the last page there was two options, a link back to prolific or a forward arrow and I didn't know which one to select. I choose the forward arrow as I wanted to make sure my answers were logged but the arrow just closed the page down with no way to get back into it so I then had no option but to submit a 'no code.
Anyway it's not worth the worry of getting a rejection so I have returned it. I did think it was a bit strange at the time that it was £3.60 for 8 mins.2 -
I haven't returned it. I messaged the researcher back to say I had completed the survey honestly...1

I got the message even though I didn’t complete the study because of a technical problem so haven’t got anything to return. I think he’s sending the message out to everyone regardless. If I had completed it I certainly wouldn’t be returning it.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1 -
Same here Allison, very slow since yesterday. I was thinking it was my wifi, but no problems on any other sites.allison445 said:Is anyone having issues with slow loading pages on the new updated prolific site when I click on a notification of a study via the assist or via prolific itself the page takes ages to load and by the time it does the study is full1 -
It's been intermittently slow for me for quite some time, but this latest update seems to have made it more consistently so.Chrisv said:

I also received the message from Tim. I had Returned the study as I was unable to get it to accept my Prolific ID. I informed the Researcher about the problem and said that I had no alternative but to Return the study - same as many others here.
I gave Prolific 'Technical Problem' as my reason for returning the study.
