This was my complaint a few weeks back regarding poll/research companies in general.

All poll/research companies should be subject to the National Minimum Wage.

Its a nice idea in theory but it will simply never happen. There are too many variables and it would be too easy to abuse from either side.

Edit - I do also think they should be upfront about the need to install apps and those should be paid more because of the risks involved for the end user.

Prolific and Populous are among the highest paying surveys in my experience.

Oh, I have no doubt they will sort it out. I've had this happen only twice before (out of 200 studies, I should add), and both times bonus payments were issued to make up for the difference.

Just to add to this, I just heard back from Prolific:

"Thank you very much for reporting this issue. Unfortunately, it looks like the researcher has underestimated their study's completion time, and it has fallen below the minimum payment rate that we ask all researchers to adhere to.

As a result, we will now contact the researcher and ask them to award bonus payments to all valid submissions. If we judge this to be a significant violation of our terms, we may also take further action in the form of a temporary or permanent ban on the researcher's account.

We strongly endorse the principles of ethical and fair rewards on Prolific, so appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Please let us know if you encounter any similar issues in future."

So yeah, they're again very good at sorting these sort of things out. I can only encourage all of you to report these sorts of issues, it's worth it.

Don't waste your time on a study about eye movements.

Took ages to calibrate the screen and then the survey got stuck on the page and wouldn't progress.
