Medion/ALDI PC -- went wrong, should we ask for compensation?

  • After making three more calls and being told a supervisor would call back each time, we have now written to ALDI and Medion.

I have to say I had the same problems getting some response from Medion when our PC broke down the first time( graphics card had gone), it took ages to get anywhere ( promises to return calls that never materialised, losing my contact details:rolleyes: and so on and so forth) but the thing that eventually did work was a letter to Medion mentioning Trading Standards as amcluesent suggests. What helped was I phoned Trading Standards first and they told me what to say in the letter ( something along the lines of according to xxxx legislation, your company is in breach of... etc.) It did make it sound like I knew what I was talking about and more to the point it got Medion to sort out the problem pronto. There does seem to be inconsistent service with this company, the next time we had a problem with the PC they were super efficient in answering calls/ getting on with the job ( and I don't think it was because of the Trading Standard mention the time before ...or was it?).
  • UPDATE

We wrote to both ALDI and Medion well over a month ago.

Medion have written back asking what our private engineer did to fix the PC.

Aldi have not bothered to reply.

Latest: after a load more letters and phone calls we have a brand new PC.

Trouble is, when we plug in the old monitor (the one that came with the original PC) it doesn't work!
