Just don't! Almost (why almost... ) ... Any trade that starts its sales with some spotty youf with a clipboard and a hiviz "Surveyor" jacket knocking on your door, or a letter : "... We are in your area... Discount..." ...

Luckily I have a deep, damp ("oooh, I could sell you Onekote to waterproof tha... aaaargh " thud bump ) cellar with a heavy lock on it, and I throw them a crust of bread on occasion. Rare occasion at that.

Ghastly folk, all, preying on the vulnerable or ignorant.

All the quick fix foam sprays, waterproofing, water seals, even chemical damp proofing, they all have a Circle of Hell reserved for them in my personal Inferno.

No, OP. It's worthless, and will cause unending problems when you need a proper repair. Which, if you let these folk within spitting distance (practice!), will be very, very soon.

Just my unbiased opinion....:D Oh, unlike Furts and Doozer, I don't work in the construction industry; I work in science and for evil Big Pharma... I do use proper builders awfully often, but usually only once per job!

This is their approach for installation as I was told - They said no obligation quote but having got the surveyor its more tempting discount - which probably does not feel right but then again I do not have enough knowledge in the subject and the comment here help in general:

    1. Pre-spray work - Fix cracked tiles, redo mortar on the ridge tiles and wherever its eroded. so, point one is worth it, preferably done by a roofer. Someone who repairs roofs properly, and cheaply, without any need for point 4. below...
    2. Do pressure cleaning on the roof tiles. Oooh, clean tiles.
Could eat off them. Rain cleans tiles.... frequently!

    3. Anti-fungal quote Good for toes, I get Athlete's foot. Who cares if there's some on the roof, sunlight or frost will kill it in seconds.

    4. 3 quotes of renotec roof spray That sounds impressive...
No doubt it helps shed water, or cures warts ... Is it pretty? But WHY ON GOD'S ROOF would you want it?

    5. Do all post cleaning work - Including guttering, steam cleaning windows etc.., - Including neighbours if the cleaning has caused dust etc.., Ah, they mean all that cleaning that wouldn't be needed if they'd stayed off the effing roof in the first place!

    Thanks

I see one of those coating cowboys doing this, one slip and it could be curtains for him.

...They claim to use Renotec roof coating and have exclusive rights in the South East as the only tradesmen to offer that.
You've already got the message, but a couple of pointers for anyone else who finds this thread looking for guidance.

"Exclusive rights" would be my first eyebrow raiser. 'Exclusive' sounds good after all. But just a minute, the South East is a very big area with millions of rooves that need fixing. If the product is good and serves a need then it will be in high demand. An in-demand product being sold in the South East needs a substantial sized company to supply it exclusively. We're not talking Carillion size, but I'd certainly be looking to find a company with multiple depots, operating from a swanky head office, with a turnover measured in millions.

Here Companies House and Google streetview could be your friend:-

The second thing I'd check is what the company website says 'About Us'. As far as I'm concerned the words "The UK government..." and "Approved and Regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority" are the only ones I need to read before clicking 'close'.

OP glad you’ve changed your mind. Never ever jet wash your roof, let alone paint it.

It's a three year old company with a small company exemption for reporting.

It has a reputation for slow payments to suppliers.

Its credit rating is 'cash transactions only'.

Was the salesman called David or Darren? They are the directors.

I don't know anyone has mentioned this yet, but after 5 years it will look crap.
One of my neighbours had their roof painted a few years ago. Looks nice to begin with, might trick people into thinking you have new tiles. But after a few years it starts to wear off and it's obvious you've had them painted which makes your house less attractive than those that aren't painted!
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.

If he is one of the cowboys then slipping might be a blessing:rotfl:
