If you were off sick, and not entitled to payment, or full payment, when off sick, but nevertheless paid in full when off sick, it's not a deduction - it's a correction of a payroll error. You knew you were off sick. Did you point out that you were overpaid? Did you save that overpayment for when you needed it to pay your bills?0

I had deductions made and as far as i knew they had taken the money that i shouldnt of been paid,i wasnt expecting them to take it twice.I just thought that they would need to give me notice if they were taking such a large amount in one go,im not disputing that i owe the money its the way that they took it that im asking about.If you were off sick, and not entitled to payment, or full payment, when off sick, but nevertheless paid in full when off sick, it's not a deduction - it's a correction of a payroll error. How can you ‘not dispute’ that you owe it whilst also saying theyve taken it twice?

The way they took it is lawful. You may think of it as a deduction. The law doesn't. You were overpaid and that required a correction in the salary. I am somewhat confused though. How could you not notice that you had a lot of time off sick, but didn't get a reduced wage? Whilst I can see this may cause you some personal issues, it's hard to suggest a possible strategy to discuss with the employer when it seems that you must have known you were overpaid. The employers mossy obvious question is why didn't you tell them they had overpaid you?0 -
8 days off sick with 12 hour shifts at £9/hour is £864.
You need to check carefully what they have deducted overall, but by the sounds of it is not far wrong.
If you were not at work, you cannot be expected to get paid.
Resigining is ridiculous. Your LL cannot evict you until you are two months in arrears, so just pay what you can for now, and get an ADDITIONAL job in the interim to help with cash flow.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

So you did know you had been overpaid. You took it in one lump sum. And you spent it. I'm afraid that it is you in the wrong here. Trying to quote a law that doesn't exist to force the employer to do something they don't have to do is not the way to go about this. You are being unreasonable.0
