    o o o o I NEED a Harry Potter party :Dand I'm 32 :o
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...
  • If you have an Instore shop- what used to be poundstrecher, they do a good bucket of party bag toys, also good for paper plates etc. Plus cheap stuff for prizes.

the harry potter party sounds fab!

if you have an asda near you, they have loads of party stuff, either for prizes or party bags. they also usually have a panyata (sp?) colourful donkey which you fill with sweets / toys etc children take turns hitting it with a stick till all the goodies come out.

you could also have a dancing competition

The chocolate game. Sit in a circle and take turns to throw a six when thrown a six they have to move out of the circle put on hat gloves scarf etc and used knife and fork to chop up bar of chocolate and eat! Keep going until the next six is thrown

I was recently introduced to my brother's girlfriend and family -This is a tradition in their house for adults, as well as the kids. A fab game! Even better after a few drinks(adults only of course! :D ) Highly recommended..

if you have a small group, slumber parties always go down well.

girls like to be pampered - manicures/make up/hair done etc (use up all the old beauty products you have lying around at home, or buy styuff cheap from your local pound store).

boys love having their hair spiked into mohicans/quiffs etc (yes, strange creatures arent they?!)

then, a few different types of pizza, a bit of ice cream, some squash, and a mountain of movies...and the kids will happily entertain themselves long after you have gone to bed :D

  • Hi There

HSS hire shops hire out a bouncy castle for just £25 a day (you get a £5 reduction if you book online) so costs just £20. Most bouncy castles cost £45 a day, so its a good saving of £25.

PS when you put a search for this item use the plural 'bouncy castles' otherwise it doesnt seem to show the two types you can order.

    Have fun

  • My son will be 8 in March but was wanting to have all his friends together for it. It'll be too expensive to hire somewhere cos there's too many off them and don't want them going crazy in the house either.

    Any suggestions?
  • Are there any community rooms near you? There is one in the next village to me and it only cost £10 to hire for 3 hours on a Saturday afternoon.

I did all the catering myself, so it was a lot cheaper than buying ready made food or getting caterers in. We played traditional party games, and I got some nice art/craft sets as prizes from the £1 shop.

Saved some money compared to taking them all to the soft play etc. It was a lot of very hard work though, so get a bottle of wine in the fridge for afterwards :D

Is there a Laserquest near you? OK, this isn't a cheap option for a birthday, but my 8 year old has been several times in the last year and absolutely loves it. So do all his friends. And they get fed too, so no work for you!
