Almost 2 months old, and its the Sun....
Yet a short time later and not 2 months old the same paper reports.... https://www.thesun.co.uk/money/5608749/house-price-average-pushed-above-300000-as-record-numbers-look-to-move/
.
Well that's a little embarrassingGather ye rosebuds while ye may0 -
Well that's a little embarrassing
Yes, it is.........
"Property firm Rightmove said January was its busiest ever month, with potential buyers spending 1.1billion minutes online."
...Sold your house yet? No, but we got nearly 20 minutes last night....:rotfl:
Even more worrying....
"Director Miles Shipside said the 0.8 per cent month-on-month rise was below the 1.6 per cent average for the past ten years"
And most distressing of all......
"And he warned sellers not to be greedy, saying: “It is wise not to over-price given stretched buyer affordability.

He also said....
"Miles Shipside, director at Rightmove, says that the positive start to 2018 has been an improvement on last year’s figures"
Looks like away from London that has become over heated things are rising and London is pulling the figures down..
"The average price of newly-marketed property in the Midlands is up by over five per cent compared to a year ago, Many buyers in the Midlands are willing and able to pay more to secure their future home in a faster selling market, resulting in Midlands prices rising three times faster than the national average.”
Now ill admit I withheld the bits that were negative but you have done the exact opposite. You have made the conclusion house prices are crashing (same conclusion for the last 4 years+) and just go hunting evidence that supports your conclusion... Its house prices, you will always find stories about the market about to crash, it sells papers, just like stories of house prices increasing...
It means nothing, you need to look at your area, get to know it, look at house prices sold so you know what is a good price and what is not.
Interestingly Crashy and genuine question did rightmove differentiate between people visiting the site to look to rent and those looking to buy? Its only anecdotal but in my area that is very little to rent compared to the past, it is pushing up rents and I would guess if you are looking to rent you would thus spend longer or have more visits on rightmove.0 -

Buying isn't easy either Crashy, we have been looking to buy a new home since last Summer, but nothing suitable has come onto the market in the 3 locations that we are interested in.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

+1
Even with a seven figure budget and a search radius that literally encompassed the entire UK, it still took over a year before I found the property that was right for me (and even then there was a compromise or two.)Every generation blames the one before...

Similar for us, we might go up to £1.1m, but what the barrier to me is the bad value of paying 10% stamp duty over £925k, so I don't want to be too much into the 10% stamp duty zone. Also if we get a labour Gov (perish the thought) they might introduce some sort of crazy 'mansion tax'.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0
