Just a thought - is this including a big carry forward from the previous quarter?

Your consumption for this quarter is very similar to the one 12 months ago - how much was that bill ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Your consumption of Gas has increased by about 45% in that period.

How old is your Boiler? When was it last serviced and is it still efficient?

Just worked your bill out using the rates for my supplier and the Gas used in the period 15/10/17 -18/01/18 comes to:

    1312 units x 11.3 = 14,825.6 kWh's @ 2.572p = £381.31
    96 days @ 17.11p = £16.42 Standing Charge

    Total £397.74

Who is supplying your Gas/Electric and what rates are you on?
3.795 kWp Solar PV System. Capital of the Wolds

    @Robin the bill for 20/10/2016 - 14/01/2017 was £716.27

@Merlin - the boiler is about 4 years old and is serviced and to my knowledge seems in good order. We are with Eon. Electric 15.74p per unit gas 3.907p per unit

Any of those meter reads have an "E" after them ?

3.907p  and I thought I was paying too much at 2.41p inc vat.

Electricity usage should not be ignored as it is twice the average and six times more than I use.

How often do you read the meter and send in readings, ideally if you do it at least monthly you'd have a running record (assuming you save the info yourself).

Have you any estimated bills which can easily distort your perception of your consumption.

If you put a bit of effort into reading and recording your meters once a week for a while you'll get to see when you are using it all and perhaps be able to do something about it.

If you dont monitor it you cannot control it - it's too late when the bill comes in because you've already used it.

There may be things you can do to reduce your consumption, by turning the heating down, fitting better controls and learning how to use them properly, dont use so much hot water, improve the insulation around the house (loft, draught proofing, double glazing, wall insulation etc) and over the hot water tank if you've got one.

BTW you are using about the same amount of leccy as we are and we are all electric - heating, hot water, cooking washing etc. We are at home all day in a fairly large three bed detached bungalow. We pay less than £850 a year.

I think you should be doing an energy audit to see whats using it all and when it's being used.

6626kwh of electricity is 18 kwh per day, do you heat with electricity as something is sapping a lot of power each day.

Again, check those bills for an E after the read. What you state above points strongly to that possibility.
