Thanks Hengus.Complain in writing about the fact that they have objected to your switch and copy everything to consumeraffairs@ofgem.gov.uk
I did email a complaint to Iresa, and politely suggested that they look a little more carefully at my account, and maybe transfer some of the gas credit to the electricity account to square things.
Although they did not acknowledge nor reply to my email, they did transfer the money, as it now shows on my online account.
I didnt mention that my original intention was to phone them.
However I was number 122 in the queue! :rotfl:
I have since had an email from Avro stating that the switch is back on again.I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left!0 -

My current fix ends in about 5 weeks, should I instigate another switch deal now?
It wouldn't save me much per month, but with the £25 cashback why not.
Also, am I allowed to switch to the same supplier i'm currently with?.. they are offering a deal £1 pm less than I'm paying now.I Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -
I have logged into my account and MSE has calculated that I will save nearly £500 a year by taking the Octopus deal - I have checked that MSE have the correct providers/tariffs, ticked the box that tells MSE to compare to my current deal not the standard tariff which I will shortly have to change to. I have allowed for VAT. The figures are completely wrong - the Octopus deal is a lot more - no savings at all - is anyone else having the same problem0

Hi LisaWhite
As the Octopus tariff is only available via Cheap Energy Club, we've been meticulous in checking the rates entered are accurate. I suspect that you may have made a mistake entering your usage - possibly entering the gas and electric the wrong way around or alternatively perhaps a typo.
If you'd like us to check this out do drop us an email to energyclub@moneysavingexpert.com and one of the team will jump on it.

I have also done a manual calculation and been on their website. Tonik showed more savings than Octopus on your calculations for me so I went onto their website and they come up as £144 a year more than I am paying now. I have checked my original providers and entered their latest estimated annual usage. If I have got this wrong in any way - I will be happy to put a post on saying what I did wrong as I think MSE is a brilliant website and use it a lot. I really do hope I have got it wrong0

Hi LisaWhite
I've just checked out your email and sent a reply. Unfortunately it looks like you picked a different Economy Energy tariff to the one you're actually on. If you amend this to the correct version, you'll see we show the you'd pay more by switching to Octopus (though as the fix ends shortly, now is the time to avoid moving to its pricey standard tariff).
I hope this helps to reassure you.0 -
curious MSE, ....how much do energy companys pay you to promote these exepensive collectives? some as much as £300+ more
which I find quite shocking that you even promote these kind of deals and call them "cheap fix"
(apart from the £60 commission for duel fuel switches) for example
......afterall its all about SAVING money is it not this site??0 -

Hi NittyGritty
I'm happy to clear up that no provider can pay MSE to be featured on our site. We always do our research based on non-commercial principles to determine what should be covered. With a collective, the only way that MSE makes money is from the referral fee which suppliers pay a few months after a switch is successful. We don't get paid any more for a collective switch than any other switch through Cheap Energy Club.
We've highlighted in this week's email that these tariffs can be beaten. But we still think these are good cheap deals. A huge percentage of MSE's email recipients are on standard tariffs, so can make significant savings by switching. As always before switching our users see all the options on Cheap Energy Club, automatically including tariffs which providers don't pay us for (unlike many other comparison sites).
I hope this insight helps.0 -
I'm curious. How big is the "huge" percentage? Surely people come to MSE to save money and the easiest way for many people to do that is by getting off a utility supplier's standard tariff, so the percentage who don't must be below the "national average". Do MSE/CEC users not heed that very basic advice?...
