According to the Cheap Energy Club
Our Big Switch 9 is now open with a cracking cheap one-year deal with top customer service and the cheapest two-winter fix from a big-six provider. To get it you had to be a member of Cheap Energy Club or get the weekly MSE email by 11.59pm on Sunday 21 January. If you're eligible, just do a comparison and the deal will be in your results.

Octopus Energy seem to be the winner of the 12(14) month fix.

Unfortunately it's 24% more expensive than the cheapest option for electricity only for me, and 17.25% more expensive for a dual fuel switch (not including possible cashback, or early exit fees)

Even MSE admit in the small print for this tariff
There are cheaper deals though, some with decent service scores as well,...

There was once a time that this site would not offer a collective tariff that was not market beating (or at least offered something unique), but it seems that time has passed with shareholders to keep happy now :(

EDF have won the 2 year fix, and they are even more expensive.

Applications close at 10pm on Thursday 8 February or sooner if the limited quantity available are taken. (not much chance of that at those prices, I would suggest )

Octopus tariff is limited to 25,000 applications.
EDF tariff is limited to 10,000 applications

Hmm this collective switch would be more expensive for me even with the cashback, which you would have to wait months for anyway. Don't think I will be taking up the offer this time around.

wait for it........ "This will cost you an extra £395/yr" EDF Energy
    Simply Fixed Mar20

    next joke MSE ??

the long await continues where MSE actually gives a "cheap" collective switch
and lives up to its name "CHEAP energy club"

rather than flog us more expensive tariffs that dont live up to their motto
  • Whilst I can find the prices for electricity and dual fuel for the Big Switch event 9 with EDF energy (with the MSE Cheap energy club) which became active today, I'm unable to find a price for gas only which is what I want. Can anyone help?

I haven't looked but the most likely reason is that this may not be a single fuel offer.

My EDF fix is coming to an end.
I have already begun to switch to Outfox The Market for their 18 month fix (which ends 08.08.19)

Outfox are £84 pa cheaper than the bulk switch offered through MSE Energy Club so I will stick with my switch application to OTM.

Reviews of OTM elsewhere are favourable - Trustpilot.
  • Ok cheers Hengus but seems to be a price for electricity only but not gas only
