Ok cheers Hengus but seems to be a price for electricity only but not gas only

Yes, I seen that before with many other tariffs/suppliers.

Whilst I can find the prices for electricity and dual fuel for the Big Switch event 9 with EDF energy (with the MSE Cheap energy club) which became active today, I'm unable to find a price for gas only which is what I want. Can anyone help?

    Hi D Morgan

Just to confirm, I'm afraid the EDF tariff isn't open for gas only switches. Sorry about that, but hopefully you'll find another option which can save you money.
  • Ok thanks for that confirmation

    Hi all

Thanks for the comments around Big Switch 9. I do understand the disappointment that MSE have not been able to negotiate market leading tariffs this time around. Although we were able to do this for the first few collectives we organised, over the past year or so the energy market has changed. We're seeing more and more small new suppliers launch with really competitive deals.

These suppliers rarely agree to work with us and so we're left in a dilemna as to whether to go ahead with the best offers we can negotiate or not do anything.

We've tried a bit of both following recent auctions, sometimes postponing things entirely. Our hope this time around is to encourage people to switch, whether that's to a collective deal or any other option on the market.

If you're already on a cheap fix, the Octopus and EDF deals are unlikely to offer you savings - though they are cheaper than the other options these companies have on offer. Hopefully by shouting about things, we can encourage those on standard tariffs to take action.

I was at a company meeting today when the MSE Big Switch 9 email came through on my phone. I was shocked that none of my colleagues (5 people), remember ever switching energy suppliers. (all said they were on standard tariffs but weren't actually sure).
I do think there are a lot of people out there who could benefit.

on a personal note my current bulb deal works out cheaper by about £35 a year but what if my prices rise????? (could it be sensible to fix now for 24 months against a saving of only £70)

    My post below said:
“My EDF fix is coming to an end.
I have already begun to switch to Outfox The Market for their 18 month fix (which ends 08.08.19)

Outfox are £84 pa cheaper than the bulk switch offered through MSE Energy Club so I will stick with my switch application to OTM.

Reviews of OTM elsewhere are favourable - Trustpilot.“

You should do a new comparison and pick what is best for you. I don’t think it will be the bulk switch

You need to do your own sums based on your consumption/cost. For example, if the 2 year offer is £35 more expensive than a one year fix, then the total additional cost is £70.

Looking at my situation. To make this work, the increase in Year 2 over Year 1 would have to be in the order of 15% at the end of Year 1. Will prices increase by 15%? To put that into context, as the wholesale price now equates to 40p in every £ that we all pay, it follows that a 15% price increase equates to a wholesale price increase of over 30+% (all other things being equal).

We will have to make our own decision - sorry.

Good point (I was just comparing Fix 9 against my current tariff).
OTM are coming out £58 cheaper for me than my current Bulb deal.

i should switch but laziness is getting the better of me (i switched only a few months ago).

i should put that £58 into context in my own head (it represents 4.8 months of my annual mobile phone bill).

But OTM is fixed for 18 months - isn’t that attractive against a variable rate -?unless you expect prices to come down?

I think OTM pay exit fees but you’d need to check
