Thinking of you Silver Oldie, the loss of young ones long before their time casts a shadow forever.

I've been reading along but have been feeling a bit down.
My daughter died many years ago and it was the anniversary of her death a few days ago.
So sad for you. These dates creep on us don't they and they don't get any easier. Probably harder if anything as another year has passed. My 'dates' are April 16th and June 1st.

Afternoon all. A late one from me as I have no broadband. The speed was upgraded and the modem has gone kaput. We will be able to collect the new one on the 25th....never heard anything like it. We have to collect and install it ourselves. Good job I dont live alone as I dont have a clue.

TA, never an easy decision to make. If your happy with the area, happy with the size of your home and can afford to stay, id stay with what you have and do what needs to be done. Stands a chance a new place will have to be modified too.

Its been quiet in our house this weekend. Youngest stuck in his room and Grump and I have little to discuss.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

It will be my first major family emotional event since giving up drinking and I’m dreading it.
*Offers a supportive paw* You can do this, FBO; you've come so far, and done so well. You're stronger than you give yourself credit for. And your OS friends will be thinking of you; just reach out and feel the love and support around you.

Silver Oldie I cannot even begin to imagine; (((HUGS))) for you, my friend.

As I say it was many years ago and as you say Judi sometimes it seems to get harder as the years pass.

I was very young at the time and instead of being there to help / support me my mother said 'I don't know why you're upset, I've lost my granddaughter '
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.
  • Aw SILVER OLDIE I am so sorry. It's been a very upsetting week for you with such sad memories ((HUGS))

I want to thank everyone for their input into our dilemma. CSARINA I had no idea stair lifts could be rented so thanks for that. JACKIE pleased to hear how helpful they are. FLOSS thanks for the link to the info on the council possibly helping out with a grant towards lifts, ramps etc. It was falling down the stone steps from the house to the drive that started all the investigations off. Before that his lack of balance had been blamed on osteo-arthritis in his knees. To be told it was irreversible nerve damage and his mobility would get worse and worse over time was a complete shock. At first they thought it was connected to his cancer/ treatment but then decided he was just very, very unfortunate to be stricken by both.

Have a nice evening folks if you can. I am hoping for once I can keep awake for Vera!! xx

    Evening everyone

    Have a hug silver-oldie.
Stay strong FBO, we're all right behind you.

Heavy snow here from 10am to 2pm, probably about 3 inches. It's the first proper snowfall I've seen this winter (I missed the others when I was away). My very kind neighbour has cleared the drive and my car all ready for tomorrow morning.

I had a visitor yesterday, DS1 came over, first time I've seen him in over 4 years. Everything was fine, he stayed for dinner and ended up staying the night as it was quite late and very icy, he would have had a 2 hour drive. He left just as the snow started to fall and managed to stay ahead of it all the way home.

There was a bit of an 'elephant in the room' with regards to what's happened over the past few years but I am prepared to move on, I think he is too. Maybe one day I'll even get to meet the grandchildren, fingers crossed.

Really pleased Call the Midwife is on tonight, it's one programme I really enjoy being from London (though not Poplar) and born in the early 60s it's interesting to see how things were, although we have lots of photos.

Have a good evening, take care. XX

I am so sorry for your loss and even sorrier your mother was so unsupportive.

I was expecting older dd and her husband to pop in for a meal so got a few things out from the freezer to use them up and then got a call to say middle dd and her bf were coming over as well. Older dd got me some bread rolls and salad so the men has a couple of burgers in a bun with salad and mixed veg, two dds had sausage and mash with mixed veg and gravy and I had some lamb stew from yesterday with mash and mixed veg. :o as I usually make a full Sunday lunch or large lasagne etc.

It started to snow around two and was getting to be quite thick flakes so everyone set off before it got worse.

Bed has been stripped and I am putting on new sheet and duvet cover etc and loading up dishwasher etc. Living room is quite cold so have put on the electric fire as well as central heating for an hour or so.

    TA

I agree that a stair lift should be a good solution as you will be able to stay near family and not have the upheaval of moving.

    Hugs to all
