Re Sunday and 1am dispatch, is it not because if the seller buys and prints the p&p through eBay or Paypal the dispatched icon automatically shows as sent. So it’s not actually when they post it.

I’ve had dispatched emails on a Sunday or even at 1am, there are many sellers who pretend to dispatch hours or even days before they actually post, unfortunately there are many mugs who believe those emails and then say “super quick delivery” in feedback even when it’s taken 4-5 days to arrive after the dispatch email.

It is indeed a fact that the default setting on eBay labels via Shutl and Royal Mail all mark as dispatched when the label has been printed. Likewise Click & Drop settings default this way if you use the import system.

Nothing to do with sellers pretending or buyers being mugs.

As it’s not dispatched when you click the button, it is a pretence, just with the seller who does so passing the blame along to eBay/Shutl/Royal Mail for that pretence.

Gets back to the same argument though, I pay no attention to when a seller says they’ve dispatched an item, as *Newsflash*, lots of sellers lie about it...

Oh, @sb25 and it’s awful that often those Sunday dispatches I have noticed have Tuesaday or Wednesday franking or postmarks when they arrive, it’s awful that those Sunday dispatches get forgotten behind the P.O. counter for days before a RM collection takes them...

My point was when I mark as dispatched on a Sunday, I have dispatched on a Sunday, so not everyone is lying or a mug. Not sure how things get forgotten for days when they go straight into the bag for collection Monday morning at the PO, same with the post box. Hopefully people who buy from me are more appreciative of Sunday dispatching than you would be.

It makes sense to go for the quicker dispatch over the slower one. However, I must admit that I'm usually buying fairly cheap items, and don't spend a lot of time looking at the listing all that carefully. When I have bought more expensive items, they typically have been 'one off' items, without alternate sellers selling essentially the same item.

You seem to be missing the point.

The seller has no control over how eBay mark the dispatch if they use Shutl or RM by eBay postage. The eBay system prints the labels and the item is automatically marked as dispatched by eBay, not the seller.

Nothing to do with any pretence.

    I can't help you grasp that. ;)

I've just had an item marked as 'dispatched'. On Sunday evening. Yeah, right. I guess that it will be sent on Monday and arrive a few days after that.

Is it a case of you not wanting to understand or just really not being able to? It can be tricky...

As you seem unsure, you need to look at the estimated date of arrival, that's the one that eBay will be interested in (in so much as INR cases).

    I was supporting your post.

Your reply seems to imply that you think I was disputing your post.

Could you please clarify what your reply means? As I can't see how it follows on from what I posted.

At no stage did I say ALL sellers do it...

That comment is what is known as sarcasm, of course they don’t sit behind the PO counter for days, those sellers I was talking about only take them to the PO on Tuesday after pretending to dispatch them on Sunday ;).
