Someone, somewhere on here mentioned a free 070 number that you can get which earns money when people call you.
I'd be interested if anyone knows more.
I ask because I've advertised for private tutoring before in my local paper and just get people calling up and telling me all their troubles with their child's school, or their child not wanting to study hard - TBH I'm sympathetic, but it was taking up 1-2 hours an evening just answering the calls - and then when I told them my rates, most of them seemed shocked and soon rung off. Considering at the time I was charging £15 per hour - I was a bit depressed by it! So I thought that an 070 number may discourage time wasters and at the same time, pay me for my advice and time.
People keep telling me the going rate for private tutoring is now around £20-£30 per hour - not sure I could get that where I live!
    Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Hi I'm a qualified primary school teacher but not currently working due to family circumstances. I have been asked about tutoring on a few occassions and wondered how to go about this. Do i become self employed? I'm in the process of obtaining a CRB from a supply agency. Do i need any kind of insurance or anything?
  • I can certainly second Henry's advice. Write up a little profile about yourself, your background and your terms and conditions and make sure you give it to every new student on their first lesson (or rather their parents!).

And the e-book is well worth reading.

    Hi everyone

A while ago I posted that I was starting a Study Centre, well this is to start from end of next month. I'm just doing the orgainisational aspect at the moment and would be very grateful if anyone has set up a similar club in the past and can offer some advice regarding forms that the parents sign?

Or any other suggestions regarding resources etc that you could reccommend.

    Thanks in advance
