I have been tutoring 11+ for 2 years now, where do you live? www.11plus.co.uk is a good site, their products are reasonably priced. 21 types of question with around 34 variations, some quite complex, you would need to get your head round them to teach. I've just started my first 11+ tutor group now as I have had so many requests, 4 now on October register.0 -

I've used the 11plus website but have never bought anything from there. Instead, I bought one of the Bond practice paper books and have been using that with my Year 6 student. It's just at the right level for her - she's very bright so she can do most of the paper providing she concentrates but there is some stuff that I've really had to help her with.*removed by forumteam - please do not advertise in signatures*0 -
Ways to find tuition work include posting classified in newspaper, contacting schools and providing your details or joining an agency (although you will be paid at a lower rate). Also, you can try listing with online directories such as SeekaTutor.0

Thanks jonellis! Unfortunately as I am moving to France in February my girls need to find someone new :-( I am going to give them a few websites to look on and that will be a help.
I hope you don't mind me asking amy_lou, but what is your job in France? I've always wanted to go and work over there, but the application process seems incredibly difficult even if you speak fluent French.0 -
Hallo. Very interested in doing some work as a private tutor for primary age children. Is there much call for work with 4 to 7 year olds teaching reading/writing/maths? I am a fully qualified teacher with over 15 years experience. Regarding the CRB check, I was teaching full time until 6 years ago. Would the CRB check I had that was valid then still be valid now?0

I teach part time, and tutor on an evening. I have been tutoring adults, mainly English skills to Polish folks, but recently I was asked to tutor a Year 6 boy who is nervous about going to Secondary school. I got that by advertising on home tutors directory, which looks a bit of a cheap website to be honest but has brought me work though I turn a bit down; people don't carefully read the subjects I offer! I have never targeted that age group, so I imagine that if you did do, you'd get work.
Mostly it is word of mouth though. Once you get your first tutee, if you're lucky, you'll get others.
The parents did want to see my current CRB and I have one from my day job, so they were happy. You might want to get an up to date one to put people's minds a rest. For what it's worth!0 -
Does anyone know if driving to a tutee's house is covered by car insurance generally, like you are for "travelling to work" or does it fall under "business usage"... or is it different for each insurance company?
I actually cycle to my tutee's houses. But I was suddenly curious!0 -

As far as I'm aware that would be business usage and something you would need to tell your car insurance company about. It is probably unlikely to affect the premiums though.
