UK's Best/Worst Places To Live??

Officially the worst town to live in in the UK is Luton.Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.0

Why did Surrey have so many entries???? All the 'best' places to live were dull, dull, dull -
It's a lot to do with the atmosphere of a place.
I live in a village near Bishops Stortford which came 7th best last time (did'nt see the prog last night) and I also love some of the Surrey areas.
Trees, pretty countryside and pretty villages and towns coupled with good employment and schools. People say for example N Wales or the countryside around Sheffield has great countryside however they miss the point; The lanscape has a bleakness to it, the houses are not picture postcard Tudor with stunning gardens and tall trees, they instead are grey back to backs with grey sky and whippets.
Pretty countryside has to be gentle, calm, tree filled and have pretty atmospheric villages not grim grey houses. Even in Cornwall nearly all the villages are depressing - I know them very well.0 -

My particular flat is quite nice, but Luton as a town is not good.
And when I say officially, it was the results of a scientific study and survey I believe.Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.0 -
It was rubbish - totally inappropriate comparisons between large cities and boroughs, and small villages, and with statistical nonsense chucked in about obesity and smoking levels etc.
It's so obvious that they made this because the old Location Location Location format doesn't work anymore.
I'm not allowed to go into reasons why, but anyone with an eye on the property market in the UK can see why Phil and Krusty are moving away from old style property !!!!!!.'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' Quentin Crisp0 -
Yes, but isn't it that all part of Real Life.Drugs, prostitution, fuel poverty, general neglect - Middlesbrough to a tee. My husband is an avid photographer. Wanted to take a flood lit shot of the famed (and very wonderful) transporter bridge. Turned down the road toward the bridge and here was a couple sh*gging in the street - skirt hitched up and in full view to the passing motorists. Classy.
Who wants to live in the trendy coffee shop/gallery land of Kirsty & Phil types ??
These people are a joke.

They were probably visitors from Scumderland to be fair. Is he sure it was girl in a skirt and not a Scot?

I found it so boring and the results are all based on a load of old rubbish. Surrey is boring and I can't beleive it featured so heavily.
I was surprised Brighton & Hove wasn't in there for one of the best places although I'm biased as I live there!
I'm very downbeat about Margate (Thanet area) nowadays and am very surprised that didn't feature as one of the worse places...its Boring (there is Nothing to do there), high employment, undesirable people, crime, no decent transport links and the local council are C**P, talk about regeneration but couldn't organise anything to save their lives!
Good evening: Guess you should have done a bit more research before you purchased 2 properties up here  . Lots of decent folk around here, council services have been steadily improving, we have easy access to mainline rail service, beautiful beaches and coastline...I would imagine your definition of boring is very different from ours...biggest problem recently has been out of towners buying up property, letting it sit derelict and driving house prices out of the reach of locals...I know many MSErs in coastal locations have witnessed the same phenomena....but hey, different strokes for different folks:D Planet Thanet rules!!
