The Board Guides have a process for reporting the user profile and that gets taken into account along with general spam button action. That way we still have the offending user even after all their posts have gone

Being online in the early hours, i used to follow spammers and watch them create new accounts, but when they can create 20 + threads, you just have to admit defeat and give up.

The forums needs better spam controls.

Part of the problem is that for every MSE techno bod with a brain the size of a planet, beavering away in MSE towers finding ever changing ways to block them, there is an equal and opposite baddie with an equally large brain finding new ways to sneak em in.

I agree blocking them 100% is hard but allowing a first time poster to post LOTS after their first post or first few has been clicked as spam is where they fall down. Thats not hard to arrange, most board software will have a range of options.
