Identification -Before opening an account at the Society all customers must fulfil the requirements of the Society's identification criteria. The Society will undertake an electronic identification through its chosen credit agency. The Society reserves the right to request original documentary proof to support an application where necessary

3 questions - does anyone think its better to pre-empt and send your ID copes with your application eg passport copy and some proof of address - rather than having your application delayed?
Even if you already have a Chorley account?

Also will having one ongoing Chorley regular saver stop you having the 2nd new version?

I already view my Chorley RS online so even though it just says branch or post for the new versions will they also appear in your list of accounts?
Ah well if you can see it online...; When it says operated by post - I assume once open I can pay in by standing order, but can only w/d in branch or by post?

" Available to eligible UK residents over the age of 18 only, who have not held an open product with the Chorley Building Society within the last 12 months at the time of applying for this product."

Not sure what an 'open product' means but sounds like it may exclude you? Best check with CBS cs unless someone comes along that knows.

My Ford Regular Saver matured today and has disappeared from my online list, just waiting for the funds to be transferred.

I doubt they will be in the regular saver game again after the oversubscription last year.

    Just a waiting game now

I can't speak with any certainty but from a phone call yesterday with a MOS who didn't sound totally confident of the facts, I was told: as the new RS wasn't ready to be introduced at the time of the maturity of the earlier one, even if you have no continuing link to Chorley (my situation), you are treated as a Member. So, the £350/2.75% combo appears to be available to us.

It remains to be seen how it all works out once we get to June 1st.

Mine matured today as well, just waiting for my funds to appear in my current account, so that I can move them elsewhere. Will be a shame if they don't do another account, especially as Nationwide Pay in will half when that matures.

Shouldn't this person be applying for the Members RS (at 2.75%) as the conditions are subtly different?

Oops seen Schiff has answered the same.

    Apologies.

Edit - after a call received from a very helpful member of staff (after they'd received my paperwork) I can confirm this is the case.

OK, I am confused now. I printed off the Chorley members Regular saver Account details and under the section entitled "how do I open" it says

"available to eligible UK residents .. who have held an open product with the CBS WITHIN THE LAST 12 MONTHS

-but I got this email in reply which contradicts this

"Thank you for your email, you can open the new regular saver account but unfortunately not the members regular saver account as you have not been a member with the society for 12 months. As your details have not changed you do not need to send any identification"

From the society's rules (Page 10):

    4. MEMBERSHIP

    (1) No Person shall be a Member of the Society unless he is a Shareholding Member or a Borrowing Member or both, and -

    (a) “Shareholding Member” means a Person who holds a Share in the Society and, unless the context otherwise requires, includes a Person whose name is entered in the Deferred Shares Register as the holder of a Deferred Share or a fraction of a Deferred Share; and

    (b) “Borrowing Member” means an Individual -

    (i) who is indebted to the Society in respect of a Loan or a Loan from another building society whose interest in the Loan has, as the result of any amalgamation or transfer of engagements, passed to the Society, or

(ii) who is indebted to the Society as mentioned in (i) above and who has taken with the consent of the Society a transfer of any land already in mortgage to the Society, and who shall become a Borrowing Member as from the date the transfer is registered in the records of the Society, or

(iii) who, on the death or bankruptcy of a Borrowing Member or otherwise on transfer by operation of law becomes entitled to land already in mortgage to the Society and who (being willing to become a Borrowing Member) is accepted by the Society as a Borrowing Member while such Loan shall be outstanding, from the date of acceptance by the Society.

Ford Money Reg Saver funds appeared in my current account a couple of hours ago.

@schiff - you're eligible for the 2.75% member's reg saver (as the terms stand), regardless of what that email/person says. You had a regular saver with Chorley within the last 12 months. I'd send the application form tomorrow along with a post-dated cheque for £350 - just in case they change their terms.

That would be correct if holding a deposit account qualified you as a member - but it doesn't.

The rules I linked have the definition for a member. You'll qualify if you've got a mortgage with them, for example.
