I've been using a fork, mostly. It's just that the tines bend when you're trying to pry up whole paving slabs.
Hopefully they'll be in by the end of the week. :rolleyes:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

If I could dig as fast as that fella then I'd be laughing. :rotfl:
And rockery plants -can you eat them? I'm not interested in growing it if it's not edible. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Right then. I've now unearthed this lot:
Some of that is very large, and very heavy. Just what I needed.
Eventually, after the addition of compost and manure:
 Which ones to pick?
They're all suffering from being cramped in a greenhouse, and only in tiny pots. Hopefully, once they're planted they'll take off somewhat.
Here we [strike]go[/strike] grow then.
As you may notice, I have also bothered to plant the beans mrbadexample snr donated. Much too late, I know, but I might get a few if I'm lucky.
Edit: I've planted 4, but intend to whittle it down to 1 once they actually start making pumpkins. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Any Updates ???

Very briefly, as I'm just off out:
Plants got off to a slow start but are at least trying:
I had a go at pollinating this one this afternoon:
I'm waaaay behind schedule, but so's my mate.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
OOOOh that's a small one Mr.:rotfl:
You could challenge your mate to a rockery competition next year:D you :rotfl: have a head start after all:rotfl:
Nip the growing end off the plant now and feed and water loads,Keep the slugs off.
Lets have a picture of your mates. LOLIf you think this has helped make my day and hit the thanks button:beer:0 -
Well, the results are in. I have to say, it wasn't as successful as I'd hoped.
I think getting started late was a bad move, as I was always playing catch-up. I also think that Atlantic Giant may not have been the best choice for the lousy English climate, especially this year.
I did not win the pumpkin challenge. My 73g pumpkin was dwarfed by my mate's 94g whopper.
The two other original entrants were non-starters.

I would love to show you a picture of my Pumpkin which I had grown, however we carved a face into it and put it on the doorstep for halloween, and some Scroats nicked it! It was about the size of a football and I was chuffed with it! I have managed to save the seeds though and will be trying again next year... how about you?
Sarah
PS, You definately need to start earlier, perhaps march or april!0
