KonMari 2018 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

It is pouring down and I have decided to carry on, deep cleaning one room at a time, seeing what I can ger rid of as I work. I have washed down all the paintwork in my utility, it is a complicated room full of eco gubbins in a double doored, white painted, cupboard and I only just noticed the poor unfinished state of the front cupoard doors. I must always have been too busy to notice, never looked close up or maybe I didn`t want to notice
I suppose that gives me the opportunity to use more of my stored undercoat and top coat, good. I have taken them out of the shed, also removed the wall paint. I will wait for my parcels, then change into painting clothes. The wall paint is lovely to use, having used the same auro white everywhere, not bright white, it colour matches any surface, even just going over filled holes.I will have enough of the wood paints and maybe enough of the wall paint for the wall bits and touch ups. I don`t want to buy more if I can help it, have to get it online and it isn`t cheap
Kondo is all about using stuff too, not letting stuff languish for ever, using stuff to get rid, well that has to be good0 -
Finally finished the severe tidying of my porch
things are moved to their proper places, things that are staying in the porch are stacked in dust-free containers, the mat and the flooring are properly swept (though not scrubbed, mea culpa), and everything feels tidy and accessible. I'm sure that that sort of thing is the basis for the original feng shui.
2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Took 5 bags of stuff to the charity shop yesterday. Felt great. Intended doing a tip run today but raining so will carry on just sorting out more to go.
Kittie....so glad you have reached a decision re your house move. Your remark about grannyland hit the nail on the head for me and summed up our dilemma very well. Yes we need to forward plan but like you I am so not sure I am quite ready for a retirement complex.0 -
I have 2 full bags of stuff to go off to the chazzer now. I put in a few more items of clothing today as I was watching a woman on YouTube who lives in an RV and seeing how little clothes she gets by with. I am wearing a black cardigan today that I hadn't even worn yet. I bought it last year at a charity shop in Whitechapel and I'm not sure how I overlooked it until now!:D
I just did some admin tasks and went through some bank statements. Wow, we really have been spending a lot the past few months! Yikes. I am giving far too much money to Am*zon!
I am going to go through my Am*zon wishlist and delete the majority of it.:T
I realised I had been keeping duplicates of bank statements too as we have a joint account so the extras have been shredded and binned.
I used up a conditioner to shave my legs last night so that has been cleaned and put into recycling. I have some thick cream that I will leave in the bathroom to put on my feet at night with socks and will leave it there until it is used up. I want to go to a chiropodist later this year and need to sort my feet out before I go.:p0 -
Wednesday, I have been using coconut oil on my feet and legs and am seeing an improvement, worth a try if you'v got any hanging around?0

Bloomin weather forecast was wrong.......throwing it down here:mad: Oh well nothing for it but some more de cluttering indoors:D Gone through some more books so more for z!fitt maybe. OH really needs to go through his large collection of books in a specific category........Some have some value but others could be culled I am sure.....He said this weekend he will tackle it
I have some really old books which I am really not sure what to do with. My grandmother's Mrs Beeton's has a place on the shelf but I have other books belonging to my grandparents which I am in a bit of a quandary about......poetry books, royal picture books I am talking from the 1920s and 1930s now.......will have to do some research!Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Just had a letter offering me an appt for the hip Xray next Thursday, and GP wanted to see me two weeks after that to discuss the results. Have no idea why, in the age of the internet, it takes 2 weeks for an Xray result to travel < 4 miles. Anyone have any idea?
Have decided against gardening tonight as feeling a wee bit frazzled so will curl up with a library book and have a bath and an early night.
I took a novel to the hometown, which I'd read and enjoyed, Mum devoured it in two days, it's come back with me and will go up to the chazzer next time I'm out there. Have taken some Stuff back to a pal after w*rk and something else to the chazzer, keeping things churning around. I will get this flat tidy, I will, I WILL!
Hope everyone's having a great day. GQ xEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Well the truth is is that it doesn't.........everything is digital and instantaneous........consultant sent me for xray on knee whilst I was at the hospital having the consultation. Got back to his consulting room and he was already looking at it and making a decision. So when I had an MRI scan for something different I rang the relevant dept and asked for an appointment on the same day. They tried to fob me off with "it takes 3 weeks to be processed and then a few more for the doctor to look at it" Seriously???! I stood my ground and said that that was clearly not true and I got my appointment for an hour after the MRI scan. I asked the doctor what was the process and he was looked at me odd and said well its on the system straight away............I have learnt to play the system with the NHS and yes Bl**dy Awkward is my middle name.
Hope the hip is sorted soon GQ. Mine was sorted when I was diagnosed with PA and got the right treatment even though GP had muttered for months about arthritis:)Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi
