    catshark - well done! :T

DS2's and DS3's clothes revisited - lots taken out of both of them. Some items into fabric recycling (too small socks/ wearing thin socks/ too worn clothes), couple of items to CS bag, decent sized pile to NNS pending boxes, and some from DS2 put aside for DS3. Lots of gaps identified in their wardrobes, so need to get the (very few) boxes down from the loft first to see if any can be filled from there.

slinky that isn`t possible, I am raiding my pension fund to provide the funds to buy a property before I sell mine. Then I will sell mine and get an annuity with part of the proceeds. I could not face the buying/selling at the same time, so that is what I will do.

Update, I found all the planning documents online and downloaded any relevant plans. I have my eye on 3 properties, scoured all of them. Wrote a letter of support to planning and wrote to the company, asking if I could have first refusal on the plot I want most. I was gobsmacked and had a reply, looks promising but I have no idea of the price, so I have got 2 smaller properties in reserve. I will be paying a management fee but heyho, it will enable a caretaker to look after the properties and open space and I am facing facts about getting older

I think I may well sit tight re getting rid of any more stuff, until they get planning, or not. I will know in a couple of weeks

Kittie paying for maintenance is a balance against paying a physical cost for keeping ones property in good order. I guess one's age limits the activity but hopefully allows the expense.

yes floss, I will be 71/72 when I hopefully move in and have been used to management charges for 13 years. Very low charges these past 8 years but we self- manage a small communal area and I am chair/secretary, another reason to move btw, I want no more of these agms, jobs etc.

Their freehold properties are managed by the development company themselves and I love their ethos, I have done a huge amount of research and I have decided that I would go with a smaller house and plot, good job I made my mind up, I expect a sales call next week but it still has to get through planning. I do need to get my foot in the door asap as these sell very fast indeed. As soon as planning is decided, I will pay my deposit and then start to seriously downsize

I did toss and turn last night, either to be independent or be part of a small community of detached houses. At the end of the day, I want to be within walking distance of facilities and shops and this development is 150 yards from small independent shops. Time waits for no man and I will be 80 before I can blink. I have to be sensible but if something suitable comes up very soon in my local preferred area, then I will be in one heck of a quandry

Would you consider another downsize if you found & moved to somewhere in your ideal location? Or is this expected to be your last house move?

Yesterday morning I was able to fit in quite a bit of gardening before I went out for lunch.
I cleared a patch at the front , and shifted some tete a tete daffodil and primroses . At the back I planted the pittosporum I'd bought for the gap I created last year. I also dug out some bits to pass on to my sister. I'm glad it was all done before the rain today.

I went through the airing cupboard and put the warmer bed covers away on the top shelf and the lighter cotton ones lower down for the season. I put two unwanted pillowcases in the charity shop bag.

I went through my food cupboards again and threw away some packaging, an OOD tin of soup and binned a few teabags that I really don't like. I took some pasta and lentils out of the packets and into glass jars. I also threw some rubber gloves away.

My cats seem to have gone off their Felix wet cat food so I am thinking of changing to just dry food and then a tin of tuna a day. I'm trying to use the last of the Felix up in the next few days.

I'm using up a few tins of dog food I bought as one of my dogs doesn't like it as he is as fussy as my cats!:p My other dog likes it so she can have it all.

I also cleaned all the pet blankets, cleaned the bathroom and vacuumed and cleaned the floors. It feels nice to be getting some more stuff out and making the household more streamlined and efficient.:)

We've had low water pressure all day, water company turned up just after lunch and started digging. Water is pouring down the street on the other side of the road. Chap has just knocked on our door to say it's our feed that has 'exploded' where it joins onto the main. We're now without water completely whilst they are digging down to sort it, apparently it's very deep there.

Openreach have been in the street for 2 days sorting somebody's phone problems, the utilities have been getting their overtime in!

Our mains are going to be kondoed over the next few months. Over the past few years they have regularly failed (usually on a Saturday morning). The water company wrote to all the residents in our small area of 5 streets saying they will be replacing all the mains. Was due to start a couple of weeks back and take 20 weeks, but hasn't started yet.

Some more bits have been kondoed from the loft - curtain tracks we will never use again, the innards of a roller blind less the blind itself. We have no idea why we have kept this. We have kept the winding mechanism as it's the same as another blind we have, for Justin, but justifiably so.

kondo'd half jar of (out of date) mincemeat in this cake (which seems to be inspired by this Mary Berry recipe). It is gorgeous, incredibly moist and fruity.

I'm trying to run down the odds and sods from the baking cupboard, it was made with 2 different types of sugar, neither of which were the one called for the in recipe :rotfl:

Still have half a jar so will make another one (maybe as a loaf or muffins) for the freezer when we get back from our staycation.
