:) I thought so, too. My pooter has been pimped over the years by my Computer Wizard (whom I've been trying unsuccessfully to get in touch with for a few day, hope my contacts for him are still valid. And that he is well, a top bloke, known him for 16.5 years). Has double the amount of RAM that the manufacturers intended and a few other bits & bobs.

Its chip isn't powerful enough for a more modern OS nor will it run certain things. That's OK, I lead a very low-key IT existance and love the thought of continuing to use bits and bobs, to avoid e-waste. Modern computer mice can't be plugged into a tower as old as mine, apparently, the ports are different now.

Maryb, that sounds **very** impressive! Mine gets fits and mostly starts, but ... I don't really trust it. But I'm like GQ, I hate buying electronics, and I hate installing new gizmos in existing hardware .... sigh ... I need to expand the memory on my phone and my camera before I go on holiday, and I'm dreading it ...

On the electronics subject I've just had two calls from my phone provider offering me a new deal and upgraded phone ( for a price I'm assuming!) Didn't tell them I've got DS's old one with a mahoosive memory that will keep me going for quite a few years. My pooter runs on win7 which I shall keep until it dies. Most of my surfing and 'tinternet use is on my little tablet.
On the kondoing - I took a roll of fabric that I'll never use now into my local hospice craft shop and I've got rid of the last dregs of vanilla essence into a cake and a very elderly tin of sweet corn for tea - was a bit dubious of the contents but all looked, smelt and tasted OK!
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

windows update on win 7 almost killed my computer and I had to buy another. First one is dislocated from internet and I only use it for m/s money now and for watching dvds when I want cosy time.

Off for an early tip/recycling run soon and will start to re-fill car again, I remembered some large plastic ikea laundry bin/seats saved for justin and the long empty stack of mesh-like plastic storage boxes and the lidl bike stand, the bike is too heavy to lift. Will all be done later today. My tip is great, they have a re-homing area. I am kissing goodbye to a hm wooden container box, storage and seat, it is time for it to leave, takes up a fair bit of wall base space.

This heavy lifting has given me bad aches, lived on painkillers yeterday and will again today, the shoulder pain is like toothache all night. Had all this before, so this time, after the garage is finished, will be the last time for heavy lifting and I mean for good. The shed is now empty of anything to do with tools. I just need to get everything away as neatly as possible in the garage, so I can live with it, potentially for months. I should finish today and will then start the healing work on my own body
  • Kittie, I know how awful shoulder pain is, I've been on painkillers for over two years after a shoulder injury at work. I hope you're able to rest and recuperate properly once you're done.

Going to sort through a load of old paperwork today, scary how quickly it builds up, especially as I only went through it all a few months ago. Slowly starting to feel the benefits of sorting through our home. So much left to do though, I can't wait to get it all sorted!

  • I have finished :j really have finished, did two full car trips today and no painkillers needed. I am generally stiff all over as befits my age but nothing more. Garage is vacuumed and everything left is neatly stacked and labelled around the sides. The only thing left to be disposed of is the justin bags of lime render and some rendering tools. Nothing but nothing heavy left for me to do and my warning to folks is for goodness sake get it done while young enough, while you can

So now I am working on myself after having washed my worzel gummage clothes, had a relax in the sunny window, laying back on my zero gravity chair ie feet up as high as my heart and whole back and head properly supported. Later I will do some inversion and back mobility stuff as well as some hocus pocus stuff :D

mummyjane, yes shoulder pain is awful. Last time I did it was by lifting a heavy box down in the untility room, about 2 years ago. I thought it was the end of the world and the end of me doing things. I eventually got rid of it by quietly exercising alternative muscles in that area and again, inverting (I only go to 60 degrees, strapped for that angle)

I can get to all my carving tools in the garage, so could carry on but have no inclination at the moment :)
  • I came dancing downstairs today, knowing that all the work is done, the kitchen, every room, garden, shed and garage can now be packed without any further sorting. I was thinking that I could ask the removals to pack eg the kitchen as is but I can easily pack every other room. From now on is just gentle KM, on an as seen basis and being ultra careful not to multi-buy packs of anything. Use one, replace one

As you know I have very many `really useful` boxes because they made a fantastic storage system. I have 3 litre, 9 litre and 18 litre sizes. 3 litre sizes store side by side on my crafting room shelves, 9 litre sizes are very good for storing my sorted and catalogued sewing patterns and haberdashery collected over 40+ years. They will be good to go as they are but there is always the odd chance of the lid not being secured, so I will start to encircle with mini stretch clingfilm, to be safe in transport and something I can do well in advance. I cannot see me sewing much this year

Oh no!! I forgot under the stairs. I did two KM passes in the past year but need to do the final pass. It`s a bit tricky when it is full of bottled fruit, jams and chutneys as well as a few other bits. Give- away sessions coming up :D

Self-help healing has worked, not much aching this morning. Magnesium bath early evening should finish the process. I only needed painkillers for 30 hours, to reduce inflammations

Kittie do you know if there are any fund-raising sales locally that could use your preserves? Or maybe a soup kitchen that could use them for you?
