Kittie, not sure where you are but there may be a local Junk Food project in your neighbourhood? Or maybe a church that has a Trussell Trust link? That's if you have a shortage of folks to give them to

I have kondo'd the two B & H gifty boxes (empty ones, with added butterflies) and some other bits & bobs. Am full of cold atm and not feeling 100% so won't be doing very much more tonight, but am keeping up with the daily drag-in.
I find if you don't let the clutter get too comfortable, it's easier to part with it. Once it has its little cluttery feet under the table, it gets harder.
Keep up the good work, lovely peeps. GQ xEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Having an orderly craft stash paid off! A client asked me to mend a hole in a pale yellow jumper. I had no pale yellow thread.... i remembered some little bows in my craft stash, checked them against the jumper and the colour was a match. During my break between clients I sat in my car in a nearby car park and happily stitched said bow over hole, ensuring that I caught the edges to mend at the same time. I held my breath while showing the client for appproval (a slightly unpredictable lady). She was delighted :T
Today various gifts left the house, and a surplus plant holder. DH gave a dozen magazines away too. This has rarely happened before! Only amounted to a large carrier bagful but it left the building!
Ooh, and 3.5lbs has left my hips :rotfl:
Have kondo'd most carbs again after adding pounds recently - poor eating when exhausted for a few weeks then slight overeating on hols. I hardly dared to weigh myself but eventually braved the scales and the damage was not as bad as I feared, phew!I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
Fab result on the jumper repair, MMF
Kitchen-related KM-ing still going on here. New kitchen is in (snagging stuff being sorted 7th March) so I am having to find new homes for everything. Having taken the decision to both go for less cupboards and change the design (from lay-on doors to in-frame, where space is effectively wasted between units) I have less room - so some more things will need to go. Some bits are being binned/ recycled (where I was using stuff which was broken/ breaking whilst waiting for kitchen (been planning for a couple of years!)), others sold (will be listing some on t'bay tomorrow, as I have a listing offer of £1 max selling fees), some set aside for DS1/ uni and some will be heading to CS. I figure as long as it all has an exit route and can generally go quickly (exception being stuff for DS1) then all is good.
Several radiators have been changed throughout the house. Some of these have already been collected by the scrappy and the rest are now out the front (along with other various metal items for recycling)
Old teatowels (with holes and seams which have fallen apart at edges - some are at least 15 years old) are moving to rag bag (decorating etc) and new joy-sparking ones are now sat in a drawer, ready for use
Lots of cleaning of dust and re-organisation of the house (kitchen stuff ended up in every ground floor room, plus garage - meaning some dining room stuff got packed up to accommodate kitchen stuff in there (set up microwave, kettle etc on sideboard) is now the order of the day....

I finally managed to get some wood carving done today, having a tidy workspace is indeed an incentive
plus I have found a storage container for some long bits from the garage, japanese saws, long rules, long spirit level etc. An artificial christmas tree bag. I did wonder how I would keep these loose bits together
I was speaking to someone today, very slowly going through bags and bags of old correspondence, including letters, from deceased persons. She is very overwhelmed and it is daunting for her, having to do all that so she can finally get to her own clutter. I think perhaps, it is a good and kind thing to get our own clutter sorted for our next of kin0 -
I got rid of a plant, a tray and a TV this week.:T
I went through my toiletries and makeup and I have far too much.:o I want to cull that. I did buy a few new things like micellar water and some new moisturisers and some of them don't suit my skin so I will have to work out what to keep.
I'm watching a new to me British YouTuber called Madeleine Olivia and she has a minimalism series. Interesting to watch.:)0 -
Now I am concentrating on KM of foodstuffs, kind of KM but I really mean using. Today I made scones and cinnamon buns using 00 flour plus baking powder for the scones and bread flour for the buns. I am out of baking powder and deliberately ran out of sr flour, using plain and baking powder, sifted together instead. As always when it comes to food ingredients, it has to be slow and steady. I have excess organic dried apricots and it is fine and good to eat about 3-4 a day. I chopped some into a casserole and soak a few every night to have with breakfast
The christmas tree bag has arrived and it is very good quality, very strong and made from something like cordura.0 -
Hello!
Just back from skiing and trying to catch up on everyonesposts.
I decided to donate all our ski gear. The kids will have grown by the time we go again (if we do) and I hope to have shrunk. If it is going to get discarded, we may as well do it now, rather than have it kick around for ages and then discard it. Also, if it goes now, hopefully people will have the chance to use it before the end of the season.
A sofa went today too, I hope it is useful for its receipent.
I am trying to tackle waste, by not buying stuff in the first place, rather than keeping stuff I do not need for Justin..."Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful." William Morris0 -
I met someone whose work is collecting stuff for the women's refuge, to be taken on national women's day. So I'm looking what I can send I had some shampoo and conditioner that reacted with my skin so the bottles are still full, I'm wondering if they'll take a travel hairdryer, someone bought for me and it's never been used. I'll ask dd2 to go through dgsons clothes, as they want children's things too.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0

Ski stuff gone, plus 1 book...
I am going to start another layer of Kondoing. I could manage with way less clothes..."Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful." William Morris0
