KonMari 2018 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

  • big or little steps, it is all progress :D

The filler I use is called ronseal smooth powder filler and is less than £3. I have had my box for three years and it is brilliant. When you pull rawlplugs out then there is a fairly big hole, I push the filler over first with a knife and then put a little filler on the edge of that small bendy thing that decorators use and I just do a quick sweep. I never have to sand it, just paint, it dries quickly. The paint I used was the white auro paint that I always use, the tin was 3 years old too but I always seal tight and put packaging tape around the edges. It was perfect to use

Now I am trying to stay awake for 10 more minutes, then I will go up and read. Had to take a little cbd oil as a sore hip has woken me 2 nights on the trot. Must be my position, back alignment or something, inverter will be used in the morning to straighten me out. Cs tomorrow and also the tip but before I go out, I will do the present packaging drawer, got too many present bags and bits and bobs for wrapping
  • There is definitely a lark in me :D I bounced out of bed and took down a very heavy lined wool curtain, windows 9` wide and floor to ceiling. Vacuumed it, straightened the heading and it is now folded as gently as I could and placed in a medium sized hall ottoman. Very long pole taken down and covered in clingfilm to pack away and all holes mended, in cedar wood so they vanish in the pattern.

I could have left the hall and lounge curtains but I really don`t want any buyer asking me if they are staying, so better out of sight and packed. For the first time in my life I bought special curtains and they were extremely madly expensive and amazingly clean :) keepers

I am fully packed for cs and tip. I read a post, cannot remember who and maybe not even this thread but it struck a chord, now I am being more decisive and fitness bits are going as well as some bulky prepping stuff.

The starlings are very noisy behind the house, murmuration time. I love it ( and cope with a mucky car). I feel spring in the air today

Fen 1 - I buy complete minces from kiezebrink, they come as 1 kg sausage which I defrost a bit and portion into 4 ,each portion will do 2 days. I get 20 kg at a time as postage is dear. I also get day old chicks as a treat he has 1 a day.

I was told about a face book page called cat cr ap that advocates raw, they have files which explain the ratios 80% meat 10% bone and 10% organ, if you want to make your own . I'm a bit squeamish so haven't made my own .
It's becoming more popular and some pet shop sell frozen raw, but it works out expensive that way.

I researched before I got my kitten and he's been on it since I brought him home, his fur is so soft like a rabbit fur! His poo doesn't smell, and as it's species appropriate, he's thrived on it.:T
Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.

Old bed has been kondoed to the tip. Admittedly we are getting a new one delivered this afternoon, so not actually created a space. But the old one certainly didn't bring me any joy and the new one most certainly will. Looking forward to comfy night sleep at last.
OH dropped off a bag of bits at CS enroute to the tip as well, so bit more bedroom rubbish gone.

Having GS's to stay for couple of nights so won't get any more tidying done this week, but hoping to start on kitchen next week.

Finished, been out and everything has gone, including a very thick woolovers polo neck jumper. I was never going to go to a snowy land, don`t know why the heck I bought it, so thick it took up 1/3 of a drawer, unworn, someone might be happy. I am wearing a thin woolovers jumper, comfy but like all woolovers, you get what you pay for, it will be going out for spring

I was just wondering how on earth to pack my massive, again very expensive and only 7 month old bedroom curtain. I love it a lot, had blackout lining put on and would never leave it, have very similar matching lampshades and it all makes my bedroom a cosy haven. The curtains are heavy linen with birds and plants on a linen colour background. Today worked so well with the hall ottoman, I have a longer one at the foot of my bed. Got them from ebay, pale cream leather and padded for sitting. Lovely quality. It is pretty obvious that I also fold and layer that curtain in the upstairs ottoman, they won`t crease that way. I could have had nightmares about packing the 3 curtain sets

Next kondo then has to be the upstairs ottoman, I want it empty.

Today I helped a client kondo a lettuce! She had been entertaining at the weekend and had over-stocked so I benefitted from the surplus :)
I sorted a lot of recycling into correct bin and then took a neighbour to W8trose where I kondo'd 15 minutes staring happily out of the window while she shopped. Sometimes it is good to just sit and stare.

I am off tomorrow and shall be exploring my craft stash (I have a Valentine's card to make :D) and my wrapping paper stash. I may also kondo some store cupboard ingredients into a Valentine's cake :D:D
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

I like it :D and esp the valentines

Ottoman is fully empty, 2 throws gone and a fair bit of heavy prepping equipment from an outside chest. I did some heavy stuff too, lovely dry day and took 4 large thick planks, stored dry so the weight was manageable, two slip resistant outdoor mats, one large from when I realised that the decking was treacherous 4 years ago. Trouble is that they got soggy underneath and soggy and wood are not best friends. Now I am wondering how best to carry on with the study/craft room

I've been stacking the rubbish my brother will take to the tip for me. And a different stack of the material to be used for underpinning my fence that has gaps underneath.
2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • There is a niggle in my mind and it refers to the garage, again. It is looking awfully full and has become a `resting` place for items I want to take but don`t want in the house. Garage is separate from the house, over the communal parking area. It is going to take a lot of my mental strength to get me to do another pass in there. What ifs are all over the place, what if I need some more rendering? I should keep the special lime powder for justin. I should keep the remaining extension leads and many bulbs, for justin. I cannot see me doing serious carving in there until I have moved, all the dremil stuff, the sharpening and sanding gear as well as clamps, saws, on and on

I have a large shed that I was trying to clear too but now that is also stuck. Do you think it would be better to `pack`packable garage stuff and keep packed stuff in stacked boxes in the shed. All the time with a view to what can be kondoed. How do I get out of this pickle? I need to wade through and sort and certainly cannot be leaving it to removals men when that day comes. Today is not the right day to start, cold, wet and very windy but at least it gives me time to think it through before I kondo stuff I want

Kittie I may be talking out of turn here but I just feel you may be in danger of getting rid of things that do give you joy in order to prepare for something stressful ie moving which won!!!8217;t give you joy until you are settled. I am in a sort of similar situation in that we will downsize at some stage but not as imminently as you and I look at all our things and feel a sense of panic at all the rationalising we will have to do.

But then I look again, and I realise even the Justins give me joy because I have what I need if I need it. I would be inclined to leave it a week or two and see how you feel. By all means tidy what you can. Even organise it into different areas so it will be easy to dispose of when the time comes. But you have said that you would buy first then sell your current house so you will be able to do the sparking joy test once you have taken all the obvious stuff with you and you may find it is easier then
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
