Thanks everyone for keeping me motivated , Our Christmas has been a bit up and down, as our daughter was ill ( The one who had the baby recently by C section ) we had the paramedics take her to hospital 3 times over the festive period , but at least now we know whats wrong , she now has to have her Gall Bladder out ! Cant be done till at least February as its got to not be flalred up .
Anyway onwards and upwards, we have a good family who all chip in at times of need.
I used a lot of my Christmas paper and cards, and still have enough to use for next year , so its all stored away , Im lucky as i have a downstairs bathroom at the end of the house , and it has a decent size roof space above it ( Used to be the old outside coal house and toilet before we made it into a bathroom ) the roof space isnt big enough to stand up in , but its made agood size loft space , ideal for all the big christmas decs, tree , you name it , it will hold it , but we keep it purely for the christmas stuff , so its easy to get at when needed. i dont take the decs down till 12 days after Christmas , but re use the cards for gift tags , and hand made cards , plus pass other realtives cards onto other crafters to do whatever, and the "Backs" go in the recycle bin , I intended to Kondo the freezer before christmas , so still got that to do , needs a really good sort out , A friend whos diabetc kindly gave me 2 tins of biscuits and a tin of chocolates that she had as gifts and cant eat , so theyll be used up and im grateful for them . Its a vicious circle with me , i want to Kondo , but im a huge frugal fan too , Use everything if possible . but everyone on here is helping me to free a lot of unused things . Baby steps .
One tip i did learn from someone MANY years ago , and i still use this , wondered if this idea was any good to others, i have an old book , ( Like a big size out of date diary) and i have sections in it , to KNOW where ive got stuff , I have pages for the freezers ( I have 2 freezers) when i empty it to de frost and kondo it , i write in the book what i put back in , what shelf its on . when it goes out of date etc , then at a glance in the book , i know what ive got to make meals with, exactly where it is to grab it , , and what needs to be used up . Just cross it out as its used , Another page for the bathroom loft , List whats in there , ,,,,,,, a miscellaneos page , like where the sewing kit is , first aid kit , whats in the medicine box , whats in the cupboards , you get the idea. If its something that isnt used regular , you cant usually find what you need , the book tells where it is , and it sort of helps to Kondo , and just keep what you want ,0 -
Moll - I wrote in felt tip on my freezer drawers what was kept in each drawer - Meat, Meals, Veg, Desserts - whatever is applicable to your household. It stops DH rummaging and telling me he cant find it or we havn't got any!
No specific kondoing other than our bank account for a new one!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
I labelled my freezer drawers too. But DH ignores that and puts stuff in the first drawer with room in it. Sigh!It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

RESULT! on boxing day, Sister in law walked in and exclaimed "Oh My God, it's so clean, tidy and decluttered" Admittedly she didn't go into the kids' bedrooms.:p
Mind, we went to her house a couple of weeks ago and it was disgusting - cluttered and filthy. Do you find that you keep yourself as 'small' as possible when you go into places like that? We sat on barstools to eat and i didn't leave it, except once to go to the loo (which was also filthy). She had to sit on a step stool and her children had to stand as all other chairs had stuff on them - including the dog, but no one would want to sit on the dog chair. I also went in her car on boxing day which was no better... seems the dog gets away with being anywhere he likes (though he was really well behaved in our house)I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Oh Moll that rings bells with me. My daughter had a baby earlier this year and also needs her gall bladder out. She has had a few flare ups and actually went in on Christmas eve for the op but they agreed best not to do it, so now she is booked in for New Years Eve.
Apparently lots of ladies who have had babies are suffering as eveything is squashed up when pregnant and blood cannot flow as fast and remove stuff, so with a sluggish flow they get gall stones:eek:
Hope your daughter gets sorted soon as the pain is so debilitating0 -

When my DiL was hosehunting she asked me if I'd like to come to a second viewing with her and her mum. The house had bags of potential (the did buy it) but it was decidedly grubby. Her mum said as we left it was the first time she'd had to wipe her feet on the way out!
Needless to say the house has been gutted and is spotless!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Happy new year.
So i have started the year off to a good start. I got all my seed packets together in kondo fashion and sorted them out. I now have a box each for veg and flowers, a mixed bowl of out of date or not bothered about seeds which will be scattered around the garden later in a “sink or swim” test!
Small steps for a bew year.£400,000 starting Jan 2020 current end date Aug 2041 I would love the end date to be 2027 but will aim first for 2037.
1% target £4000 so far £20 paid0
