I didn't exactly kondo stuff, but I kondoed chores: the fridge is sparkling; the huge pumpkin has been cut up, roasted, and put in the freezer; all the mattresses have been turned; the hair accessories are back in their old spot, the makeup is now in their tin, and I have a spare tin...what to do? A donation bag is now at my parents for the charity shop, the ragbag will be thrown in the container today.

We are at my parents and my dad has crunched a vertebra on Thursday and is in a lot of pain (4 morphine tablets and 8 paracetamols don't do anything...). We will help where we cab.

Ouch! That is really, really bad. It's a reminder that this stuff happens at any time of year :( hope he can heal soon.

The clothes container is no longer at the supermarket! Off to find another one; but maybe they were removed for New Year's.

1 leaving present from work for OH added to CS bag - it looks like the donor received it as their secret santa the previous week - it's that weird kind of present that not many people would really want. OH's other leaving present being re-gifted as an additional present for Xmas to my mum - it's a bottle of wine - we already have a couple of dozen bottles of wine which we know we like in the garage so really don't need any more!

Small bag of airline & hotel toiletries (inc 6 airline toothbrushes and toothpaste sets - thank you Em1rat3s!) - dropped off at homeless collection point.

That's probably it from me now - only things being removed over next few days will be food, drink & packaging :)

:D Countdown to Crimble begins here, I shall be prepping some stuff for the freezer (made out like a bandit at Liddly yestereve), doing a last run to the allotment to drop off compostables, check on stuff, mebbe do a little work.

Rest of the day will be pottering, cleaning, preparing to return on New Year's Day and making sure everything will be ready to go to work on 2nd. I shall be working tomorrow and then going straight from work to the bus, will be heavily-laden but should just about manage, Dad is collecting me from the bus at the other end then a few mins' drive to the parental homestead.

  • Been sorting through big xmas box from loft. Full of decorations, lights, wreaths and so on. Yes, embarrassed to admit we are just putting up our tree! I’ve been surprised how easy i have found it to sort as i have instantly recognised the baubles i love. Trouble is now the tree might look a bit bare...
  • Congratulations Moll on your wee grandson Chase, my wee granddaughter is called Saoirse ( it means freedom and is pronounced Seer-sha). Her daddy is a very happy Irishman!

Oh Siebrie what a painful time for your father. I'm sure he appreciates having your help and support.

I had a happy find in the local PDSA and Cancer Research charity shops, an everyday handbag (teal, my signature colour) and a vintage black leather handbag. So I've kondo'd several other bags and binned the everyday one which was too shabby to donate. I also picked up a fab tunic top, East label, never been worn, so I can now let go a couple of others which no longer spark joy. Smartened up for a total of just under £20, very happy with that!

A couple of months ago I kondo'd two pairs of smart black trousers as I've gone down a size since stopping work. The charity shops didn't yield a replacement pair, despite weeks of looking. So instead I bought a pair of smart black jeans (all black stitching) £12 in a M&S outlet store. The only other choice in natural fibres was smart black trousers at £28, no contest, value won out, and with the new tunic no one will see more than the legs which look perfectly fine.

So the overall Kondo effect is a further slimmed down wardrobe, I think I'm in year three, and it keeps getting better and better!

I finally managed to grab a couple of hours and took myself off to small town where local wild animal rescue charity have their shop, gave in 1 large back of nice dresses and tunics which are too big now and some unused and unwanted cosmetics, some from gift with purchase sets and a load which I won as two raffle prizes last week.

In trying to find my thick Winter cardigans I had to trawl through a ridiculous amount of stored, mostly Summer clothing, I need to spend time matching things up and trying on, then will try to put a lot on one side ready to go to CS when Spring arrives.

Sending Christmas wishes to everyone, I hope that all gifts received are what you would have chosen for yourselves and that there is nothing "that will gather dust", unless it is on your wish list.:D:D

GQ, hope your preparations go really well today, and that your travel goes smoothly tomorrow.

Like Flo above, I'm only just sorting "decorating", but I'm doing even less. I do have all the cards up (except a few that came yesterday) but all I'm doing for decorating is putting up a few bits - a 7" tall very complicated Santa candle, that my mum used to put on display every year, and a Russian-doll type Santa of mine. No tree - though I might do a variation of a home made tree next year. For about 8 years, I used tree prunings sprayed gold and anchored in a bucket for my tree, and it was amazing - I might do a wall version of that, to be hung over the fireplace.

Right now, the kitchen table is clear enough to wrap the presents I'm taking with me for Christmas Day, and I'm actually ready to kondo some houseplants by pruning and re-rooting them for my brother. Though most of my wrapping paper is shiny-unrecyclable :( I'm like a magpie with glittery things - but after this lot is used up (it would be even more wasteful to throw it away without using it, of course) no more. Paper it is.

And yesterday, I continued to kondo laurel branches by sawing them up at the front of the house: I will have used 2.5 binloads of green bin loaned to me by my lovely neighbour, so I'm glad to think of that going to the council's huge compost pile.

:) I've finished veg prepping, stuff now in fridge for later today or freezer for use in January. Am taking 5 with a cuppa then doing an allotment run. I have decided not to do any work up there today, I have too much to do here at home and need to preserve energy for that.

I love hearing about people's decorations. I was at my bezzie's for a couple of hours late afto-early evening yesterday and she was putting the finishing touches to her baubliciousness.

Embarrassed to say I don't do decs at home, apart from the cards, as I don't spend christmas here and there is no realistic place to store anything for the remaining months of the year - heck, am hard-pressed enough to store the everyday stuff. Still, I will be decorating the parental homestead tomorrow evening and will thoroughly enjoy myself doing that.

I've been told I'm getting some cash for christmas from the parents and auntie has given them an envelope with my name on which usually has something spendable in it, too. I am intending to treat myself to something I have wanted for a long time but not managed to find used - an 8 inch cast iron omelette pan.

Am expecting to go into town between the holidays and know that the prices will be faint-worthy by my standards. Needs must. ;)
