Siebrie! Oh my word, we crossposted, so I missed what you'd written.

I'm so glad you've been able to be so proactive. And thats great that you didn't go along with your boss's pretence, good for you. I can understand that you're happy with getting away from the place, and having all that severance pay - do look after yourself, though, take good care.

    Thinking of you.

Siebre so sorry. But it may all be for the best in the long run. Hope DH gives you all the support you need in this period of change
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
  • Siebrie, I’m sorry to hear it - but it sounds as if you are well out of there. A year to decide what you really want to do, I hope you can find something more enjoyable.

Siebrie, I am so sorry to hear your news. What a dreadful way to treat an employee who has worked there for so long :( Are they even allowed to do that without any proper consultation / process?

Thanks, everyone! The support really helps (I don't want to derail the thread). Apparently, in Belgium they can fire white collar workers for a reason like 'prolonged unmatched characters with superior'. My personnel file should be clean; my annual reviews were always satisfactory or positive, I have done all my courses, and never had any official warning. I don't want to fight too hard, because I do not want to go back :)

On the kondo front: dds' summer dresses removed from wardrobe and put in the right places in the attic.

It sounds like everything has worked out well Siebrie - you weren't keen on the job, but didn't have to resign so they've paid you to go away :) Best of both worlds, and gives you time to think about what you want to do next. Good luck with your next adventure!
  • Sorry to hear your news Siebrie but glad to see you taking it so well. In the long run maybe it might be a blessing in disguise.

Not much kondoing this week but I did finally manage to plant a load of spring flowering bulbs. Will try and tackle some paperwork this weekend.

Siebre, I agree with others, an awful way to be treated, however, it sounds as if you might be able to make it all work out in your favour, I do hope so.

8 more books to the CS and just about to start a pile of shredding before lunch.

I KC'd a chunk of time this morning to attend a walk in Flu jab clinic to find at 10:00 they were already out of vaccine (had been pre-warned in letter this might happen.) I have a condition that renders me susceptible to bugs, so told to phone on Monday to try and get a jab as soon as the next bunch comes in (next clinic not for a month and that is a long time to try and keep out of the way of possible flu bugs:() Upside was that OH and I went to our favourite cafe/restaurant for a coffee and delish HM scones:D

Siebrie - awful way to treat an employee but you have the chance to make it work for you. Rooting for you!
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
