Hope you had a gentle time at the allotment GQ. Wee midgie I admire you thanking and releasing
The CS is going to gain a ceramic "candle holder", a plate painted gold basically, that I've never liked - it was a gift, and I used it for a while, but I just don't like it. Unusual for me not to like something gold!
And the other thing is also a gift, that I *do* like - but I know I'll never use. One of those photo frames that sit on a surface. I've never liked the principle of them, and this one in particular, although its so beautiful, it makes me feel sad because of the associations of the photo I used to have in it. But somebody will love it, because its really beautiful. And it was time for it to go.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I kondoed a weekend and am somewhat glad to be back at my desk. We spent Saturday applying preserver to fence panels. 3 of the run between ourselves and our neighbours were done both sides. I did the panels, OH did the trellis. We also did the 9 along the back that back onto a footpath on the outside only. Again I did the panels and OH did the trellis. We need to do the inside as well but will leave that for a while for some of the plants to die back so its easier to get access.
Sunday we stained the raised veg boxes, OH mowed the grass and I made a start on the ironing pile. Along with cooking 2 batches of soup and a chilli. At least I have leftovers to keep me going through some of the week.
We consoled ourselves that the fences are being done for the last time, we do them once every 5 years-ish, we'll have moved before the next time they need doing. I have to say that if you've got fence panels that don't get bashed by the wind or vandalised, if you preserve them well they last. Ours have been in 23 years and are still in good nick.Make £2025 in 2025

Finally (as in after 4-5 months' worth of procrastination) got around to mending a pair of cotton trousers which I use on the allotment. They've been clean and folded up on my table for ages....….
I (finally) mended DH's favourite pair of drawers today - the waistband had pulled away from the body, at the back....there, that's something nobody wants to know:rotfl: :rotfl:
Last week I bent forward and experienced sharp, stabbing chest pain - so I bar-tacked the bra's underwire back into place while I had the machine out
My flapping, too-wide, too big, linen trousers are now in the recycling bag; their ability to spark joy waned as they started to lose colour.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
It's traditonal with the mending of kids' clothes to keep them in the mending pile long enough for the sprog to have outgrown them. So, compared to that, we're both doing great, hey?:rotfl:
On leave from the day job this week so decided to do a split shift on the allotment. Reasoning was I need to be home midday-ish to catch the postman as a parcel was expected (and indeed did arrive at 12.45). I love it when a plan comes together.
If it hadn't worked out that way, said parcel would have been in the sorting office 3 miles away from tomorrow, which is 3 miles up several s0dding great hills which I have to [STRIKE]walk[/STRIKE] hobble up pushing the pushbike, so I was very motivated to catch the post.Love it when a plan comes together. I am chillaxing at home and will go out about 2-ish to get my new dumb-phone and get it SIM'd up and then text the pals to let them know the new number. And visit with pals in their shops mid-afto then back the lottie this evening to see if the barley grains were delivered (typically would be about 16.30 if they were).
The sun is shining, the sky is blue and all is well on my planet. Hope everyone is having a good day, too. GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I had permission to chuck a pair of OH's religious boxers into the rag bag collection for charity. What he doesn't know yet is that I've also bunged in a pair that due to the way they are made (big piece of material across the bum rather than a seam up the back) makes them a real pain to iron as you can't slide the leg hole over the end of the board. I'm ironing monitor, so these will either live permanently in the bottom of the ironing box because I'm not going to iron them again, or they go to the bin. He knows I hate them because I've moaned enough already. They're nearly new, but an executive decision has been made. I wonder how long it will take him to notice they've disappeared........Make £2025 in 2025

Ironing underwear................noooooo no no no:rotfl: Life is just too short. My MIL ironed OHs underwear and flippin socks. I told him no way if he wanted that he could do it himself. I am not an ironer - just as and when needed. I be a 'smoother and folder' where ever I can;)Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

I can't be that cruel. They are usually pretty wrinkly having hung by one peg on the line. He works hard and away from home from Monday to Friday I don't want him wasting OUR time ironing. I usually do the ironing whilst he's driving home on a Friday night. We're a team. I iron, he washes my car and mows the lawn. And mixes a great G&T.Make £2025 in 2025

My mum irons ALL THE THINGS. Pants, socks, knicks, hankies, tea towels. I have rebelled and iron pretty much nothing apart from my 50's party dresses - and then only on the day they are to be worn!
When I left home, I ironed things, but essentially all my clothes lived constantly in the ironing pileI kondoed that task very early on, even before I knew about the spark joy concept :rotfl:
Having said that, I have a lot of admiration for people who actually do iron - you're a better person than meLBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310
