My goodness, you have got a lot going on in the next few months! It sounds as if you are well prepared.
You are inspiring me with the NSDs - I was tempted to stop at the supermarket today on the way home from seeing a friend, but I knew I'd end up spending money on something I don't really need. I'm trying to squeeze some money out of the grocery budget this month to spend on something else. Keep up the good work - it'll all be worth it.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -

Well done PWD for not going into the supermarket :T
Breaking habits is SO difficult especially if you get SO much pleasure out of shopping or more particular bargain hunting
Do you have a goal that you have set yourself? For me that is the key as my willpower can be non existent at times and you need ANYTHING to keep you focused :rotfl:
Keep going PWD"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast - Part 2 - Day 43
Having spent the previous 2 days indoors due to the terrible weather we have had down here, I was going stir crazy and of course I was missing bargain hunting.
So we decided to visit Pool Market where they have several car boot type stalls as well as a few antique stalls. We also planned which shops we were going to visit either on the way or the way back.
So this was our running list - Bookers Hayle, Bookers Redruth, Pool Market, B&M and finally Sainsburys.
Despite all the temptations, we stuck to our shopping list 95% of the time.
With the exception of one loaf of bread, EVERYTHING in both the Bookers was RTC (timing is essential PWD)
We spent NOTHING at Pool Market but had a great chat with some of the stallholders.
B&M was our best store for a bargain - 5kg of BBQ coals for a £1 (obviuosly RTC) so we bought enough just to get us through next season.
Our final stop was Sainsburys and with a £4.50 of a £30 spend we did have to push the bill up a bit once we had bought all the items on our shopping list (we had only reached £20) but we were sensible picking up extra cheese etc.
A most enjoyable morning's shopping, a High Spend Day that should keep us away from a major shopping run for (hopefully) quite a few weeks :rotfl:"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast - Part 2 - Day 44
Mmm, I genuinely thought I would not spend in a supermarket today but how wrong was I! :rotfl:
I bought some herbs and 2 large chickens spending a grand total of £6.50 in Tesco and then I spent £3 on a mahoosive box of Crunchie Nut Cornflakes in Sainsburys
Finally I spent a £1 in our local Cancer charity shop.
That will teach me to go to work today :rotfl:"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Morning chums I have been doing some serious pottering around for the past few days decluttering (so rewarding to get rid of junk )and trying to bring order to my house as the summer means very little gets done indoors Yesterday afternoon I spent knitting though and I only have one more baby balls to make then all 42 of them are done and I am £70.00 better off as they have all been sold
:)Used up an amazing amount of left over woll and its kept me away from shops
I have enough fresh stuff to last me until next week so no more food shopping for me and I will have got my food shopping down to two days only in this month
:):)
I am getting a bit of wriggle room in the freezer as well which is good as I want it defrosted before Christmas with luck.
I am due to go and buy some Christmas presents this Saturday with my DDs Ma-in-law as our grandson and his wife who live in New York get their presents in October when my DD and her OH go over for a visit they take the cards and presents with them and it saves a fortune in postage :)So I will be spending a few quid on Saturdaybut not a great deal as the presents have to go in my DDs suitcase so they will be small ones Probably warm PJs for his wife, and thermal tee shirts for my DGS as New York winters can be pretty cold
Right time for a cuppa
Have a good and frugal day chums

Well done for pretty much sticking to your list TM6!
I must admit that I spend less now that I am based at home - not that shops tempt me (I am totally opposite to you in the loving shopping scenario....I'd rather poke my eyes out than have to shop!) but my ds used to regularly ask me to pop in and get him something which basically meant that I ended up paying for it! :rotfl:

Fiscal Fast - Part 2 - Day 45
There is only one word to describe today financially and that is
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!....a NSD
A very apt description especially as we saw DD3 appear in Mary Poppins tonight - the final night - she was brilliant:D:D
"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast - Part 2 - Day 46
When it comes to bargains at Rosudgeon Car Boot today was THE Boss - it was absolutely AMAZING. On one stall, the couple had just moved in together (they were in their sixties) and the gentleman was selling all his daughter's childhood toys at silly prices. For example I picked up a jointed teddy for just £2 - unbelievable.
The majority of what we bought is for re-sale, now the hard work begins especially as we have just under a month before fly out to the US
In the afternoon, we had a lovely picnic overlooking St Michael's Mount.
A super day"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast - Part 2 - Day 47
A work day with a LSD on RTC - a grand sum of £5.50
Sounds brilliant doesn't it until.....
I tell you it was on a Staedtler 31 piece stationery set.
Did I NEED it - No
Did I want it - hell yes :rotfl:"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Well almost the end of the month and only two food shopping days done which I am pleased about.
No shopping food wise until at least Monday when the new month starts
I am getting a bit more room in the freezer at last. Enough at the moment to more than last over the weekend.
I am off up to London tomorrow to go and do a little bit of present buying with my eldest DDs ma-in-law Our mutual DGS lives in the U.S. and so we have to get his and his wife's presents early so they can go with DD next month when she goes out to visit them(saves a fortune in postage) so cash will be spent
but as we buy them 'token' gifts it won't be a great deal.We tend to buy stuff to remind them of the UK
Well done TM6 on getting through two thirds of the year on the fiscal fast Its surprising how much you can spend less with a little bit of thinking first
Cheers JackieO xx0
