Fiscal Fast Day 149
With SO many stunning coastal towns and villages down here in Cornwall, today was a planned trip to Falmouth where we had a long list of things to do and shops to visit as well as a trip to the beach. Having dropped off DD3 to school for her GCSE exams we stopped off first at St Breaca Church in Breague where they have the most AMAZING wall paintings - http://www.breagechurchfriends.org.uk/medievalwallpaintings.php
Onwards to Porthleven for the first of our charity shop visitsWe picked up one item for resale and a brilliant book of difficult sudoku puzzles for me. We carried on to Falmouth via the scenic route and arrived at another charity shop on the outskirts of Falmouth and once again picked up a couple of items to resell and a toy for our Grandchildren.
On our arrival in Falmouth we visited Trago Mills and bought items for my business as well as a few bits of DIY items for hubby, a 99p item of stationery was held prisoner in my basket :rotfl:
After watching the world go by for a little while in the harbour we carried on to the beach and soaked up the rays before meeting with friends at the local cafe.
Finally on our return home we had to pop into ASDA to return a parcel and hubby picked up a few essentials.
A super day which was also a LSD as we probably spent under £10 (not including business and ebay resale items)"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast Day 150
A beautiful sunny day where an enjoyable 3 hours was spent at Rosudgeon Car Boot Sale.
£20 was spent, half on ebay resale and the other half for home. Our best purchase was a full of box of Kilner style jars which we will use for all our weigh house purchases. The cost.... a whopping £2.20 :rotfl:
How is everyone else doing with their fasting / frugality?"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast Day 151
An incredibly LSD on a packet of mince for tea - £2.40 to be exact. A gorgeous Spaghetti Bolognese was rustled up by my darling hubby and there was enough left over for a second night for two people. That I would say is a result :money:"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast Day 152
With our DD2 spending the summer down with us and with her being quite a keen cook (and a good one at that) we sat down as a family and menu planned for the next week. This is something we have not done before as my hubby and I tend to eat what we feel like on the day.
The menu planning will be flexible as meals are not for a set day so it will be very interesting to see how it works.
With this in mind we went on a shopping expedition to buy ONLY those items that we did not have in stock.
We visited Bookers Hayle and Redruth, Morrisons, Iceland, the Cheap Food Store along with 3 charity shops so a bit of a High Spending Day but with a few exceptions everything purchased was on our list.
Best of all many of the items were RTC at Bookers"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Digging around for treasure in my freezer I found a lost bit of steak and some asparagus which will be for lunch today I am out tonight with my team at a charity quiz night so my late lunch will keep my going tonight I will knock up some sausage rolls only my ones will be cheese and onion ones as a couple of my team are veggies so they like home made veggie rolls
.
Out to dinner at DDs tomorrow as usual but I am going to make her some cherry scones as a treat, and probably a lemon meringue pie as well in the morning. My contribution to lunch
This month is going well foodwise and I have a list of things needed to buy at some point this week to use during the rest of this month. Definitely will come in under budget this month .
Onwards and upwards chums
