    Fiscal Fast Day 109

A super low spend day - just £1.50 spent at our local BHF charity shop for Ambre Solaire Factor 50 sun cream. I'm extremely happy with that as I am very fair skinned and I have bought a quality brand at an incredibly low price :D

    Fiscal Fast Day 110

We visited a very small car boot sale this morning but we came away without buying anything (this doesn't happen very often :rotfl: )
However we did treat ourselves to a hot drink and we shared a portion of chips.
Hubby and I are thinking of doing a booty ourselves so we wanted to get a good feel for the place.

Our only other expenditure was at Co-op on this month's freezer meal deal - https://food.coop.co.uk/deals/frozen-meal-deal
and a few RTCs. Very pleased :D

You got a superb bargain there for a factor 50 I use Uvistat factor 50 and it around £14 a tube but with fair skin its essential.

So far this month I have spent £1.61 on a pack of tomatoes,a cucumber and an iceberg lettuce, nothing else to buy and my shopping list is empty :j:j:j.Freezer diving over the weekend

You seem to be keeping an eye on spending

Im finding that knowing where every penny goes really concentrates the mind on cutting back wherever possible

I just had a nasty shock, for the first time this year, my weekly spend has exceeded my weekly income

I nearly passed out in my chair :rotfl:

So a quick look and thankfully it was just that my monthly bills all came out so apart from a standing order next week, Ive no more bills to pay this month so all earnings are credits. Im paid weekly and as Im on a ZHC my earnings fluctuate. So far this year my monthly spends have always been below my monthly income so Im squirrelling away slowly but surely

I got myself a cash back credit card which I started using last month. I put the groceries and petrol on it and Ive set up a DD to clear the balance each month. Well last time I had a credit card many many moons ago I got into debt so Im paranoid about it. The statement came in on the 26th for £121 which for a months groceries and petrol was good going, but Im checking daily and they didn't take the money and I wanted to go shopping. So I rang them up to pay it. Well I made the operator laugh when I said I need you to take the money today so I know how much I have to spend and he says but you have £2000 available so you can spend away:eek: No I said, thats not real money I cant spend that :rotfl: So he's obviously thinking he's got some old looney dear on the phone and patiently explains about credit and payments, and I let him witter on and come the end explained to him I only got the card for the cash back and had no intention of using the credit facility:rotfl:

Its only 0.5% cash back but as they say - every little helps :money:

Hmm....The thought occurs to me that if you pay them after they have issued your statement but before they take the direct debit, they may still take that money. In my experience, what sets the DD amount is the statement amount, not whatever you owe on the day it is taken. Hopefully you won’t have caused yourself a problem.

I have a couple of different strategies you could try, to manage your credit card. The first is what I do: every time I make a payment on my credit card, I immediately log into my bank app and transfer the money over to the credit card. That way, my balance is always zero and I don’t owe them any money at any time. The second is similar but rather than paying off the card immediately, transfer the money you’ve just spent to a savings account at the same bank to earn a little bit of interest and then transfer that money back on the same day the direct debit is taken.

    HTH.

I was dead chuffed JackieO with my bargain x

You are definitely the Queen of non spending on shopping. Even if I were to multiple your spend by 3 we would be woefully behind you :o

I had to chuckle at your freezer diving. It conjured up a picture of these little legs poking out of a chest freezer but still holding onto her skateboard (as per your avatar) :rotfl:

You're SO right Suki, we right absolutely EVERYTHING down now and so when we pop into Bookers, we know what we need which makes a big difference. Going to supermarkets is trickier as the temptations are bigger but we seem to be sticking to our lists

Well done on your credit card will power.

In the past I didn't have any will power and so we don't possess a credit card now and don't ever intend to x

    Fiscal Fast Day 111

A low spend day on shopping of under a tenner, on scones and clotted cream as well as a few bits that Sainsbury's were giving us extra Nectar points for and we buy anyway :D

The scones, cream and jam (which were part of our picnic) were much enjoyed as we soaked up the sun at our favourite dog friendly beach :D

A £1.50 spend at a local charity shop on the way to the beach was our total spend for the day

    Fiscal Fast Day 112

A very high spending day today in regards to spending at Hayle Car Boot Sale but what a day! Due to all the rain that we have had (almost 5 months of daily rain) this was the first sale of the season and all the private family sellers were out and the bargains kept on coming. About 20% of our purchases were for us and the rest are for re-sale.

On the way home from the boot sale we spent under a tenner on burgers, quorn burgers and buns all ready for a fab BBQ (nom, nom!)
