My, oh, my, another No Spending Day"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast Day 103
I still can't quite get used to the fact that in numbers of days, I am in triple digits!
We went to Bookers as it was on our way to a local college that my daughter needed to visit and shock horror :eek::eek:, they had NO RTCs - we were SO disappointed! Hopefully, it was just a blip
However, a LSD day today :j just the cost of a cinema ticket to see 'Nothing Like A Dame' When we went to see 'The Guernsey Literary Society And Peel Pie Club' last week, this film was being previewed and it looks really good. Here is the trailer

We are going to see it next Wednesday 2nd May, I can't wait"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast Day 104
What a super day we had. A post birthday celebration for my husband - I had purchased tickets for Carnglaze Caverns, a slate mine through Groupon but these were bought before I started my Fiscal Fast.
I did buy a postcard and a little treat
Onwards to Trago Mills where I bought some stationery for my business along with a few bits but once again our shop was targeted with what we needed. Ok a bit of personal stationery did slip into our basket
The day was rounded off with a visit to our favourite Fish And Chip shop which was lush but was paid for by my hubby's Mum as part of his birthday money.
All in all, not a horrendous day for spending and certainly an awful lot cheaper than if I had not been on the fast"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast Day 105
The value of a NSD is obvious but a LSD (Low Spend Day) very much is in the eye of the spender.
So my question is, what do you consider to be a LSD? Most days for me it is under £10 or occasionally it can rise to £20 dependent on the circumstances.
Today was another LSD - I spent £8 for my subscription to our local Church magazine. Sometimes spending can't be helped and this was one of them!
I hope you have all had a super weekend x"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
JackieO - I did look up U3A down here in Cornwall but the nearest to us is at Launceston which is just under 70 miles away.
However I am looking at doing a computer course which I have recently seen advertised"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
TM6 that's a shame about U3A as its such a great organisation .Our local branch started because the Rochester one was around 7 miles away and when it first started I had noticed a flyer at my local library and went along to see what it was like That was almost five years ago and now we have a membership for the East Medway branch of over 350 and it grows every month.
There is always the W.I or the NWR which is the National Women's Register, or if you have one ask in the local library or look on your local council's website they often advertise groups of interest things Depends what you are interested in.
Well its the last day of April and because I am eating as much as possible from my freezer and food cupboards I am pleased that in four months I have spent £126.24 only on food.Well under my normal budget and the surplus has gone into my holiday savings. I have tried to use as much as possible ,sometimes using up things in a different way.I made a tinned bean lasagne a little while ago using several tins of various different beans that I had in the cupboard and it was really nice About a third of my cash has gone on fresh fruit and veg which has helped to streetch out some of the meals
I suppose I am lucky as there is only me to feed, and I usually only have five evening meals to find a week.as I am out for a minimum of two nights at least.
I also am not too fussed about food as long as I am full I am not bothered if its a full dinner, or just a salad and a jacket spud.
But I so want to get my freezer emptied that most of the main meals have come from that Tonight I have a chicken quarter for dinner with salad, and lunch will be HM soup and cheese and a couple of crackers.
Only cooking for myself is reasonably inexpensive as I will eat almost anything:):) it is after all just fuel for my body engine
But after four months I am quite happy with the results and so is my holiday fund:)
Cheers

That is an AMAZING achievement JackieO, well done you :T
For me, there is no doubt that knowing EXACTLY what are in our cupboards and in our freezer has been fundamental in our challenge. I am a lover of lists and so it has been really rewarding both pleasure wise and financially writing everything down and keeping on top of it."One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast Day 106
Another LSD spent at Poundstretcher on long life milk and a few bits that we needed. I also treated myself to a Minions sealed money tin to encourage even more spending.
Mondays are nearly always LSDs or NSDs as I am at work and the opportunity to spend are greatly reduced :rotfl:"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast Day 107
As my daughter had an interview for college in Truro, we made the usual Booker's run calling in at 2 different branches.
Temptation is almost non existent at Booker's as everything is either in large quantities case or packet wise. Anyway, we were totally spoilt for RTCs.
Our best reductions were Kingsmill Wholemeal - 19p
10 packets of sandwiches - £2 (we haven't had to think of what to have for lunch!)
1.1kg of closed cup mushrooms - 99p (no signs of browning at all)
Pack of 2 muller corners -20p
My husband was delighted too as he picked up a couple of Malt Whiskys that were reduced with his birthday money. That's it, he's all spent up ! :rotfl:
We also had a targeted shop at Sainsbury's picking up cheese and yoghurt which are currently on Quico's ClickSnap (£2 off the cheese and a free yoghurt)
A very good shop indeed"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0 -
Fiscal Fast Day 108
Being self employed, my major day off is a Wednesday as it allows me to indulge in my passion for car boot sales and charity shops.
Despite much overnight rain, the car boot went ahead and although our purchases were small in number, they should give us a healthy return when we put them up on ebay. On the way home we called into our favourite local cancer shop and netted another bargain
Later in the afternoon we visited another 4 charity shops and a few more purchases were made. Now for a couple of busy days listing as I really would like to catch the Bank Holiday Monday trade on ebay."One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0
