Parked car hit and run - I'm at fault?

Letter received from underwriters and sent to my insurer, they just called to say it looks fine, they have forwarded it on to have my policy amended and I should have the policy cost reverted to the originally quoted ~£600 within 1 week.
Exact wording on letter from underwriters was:
"Our file is closed non-fault and the no claims discount has been disallowed"
I called to check this did not mean my NCD had gone, but they said if it was unprotected I would have lost my NCD, as NCD was protected on my policy this does not apply. Also as the CUE is correct there is nothing that needs to be amended.
If this is what the CUE says I'm a bit confused why my insurer disputed it. I'm hoping it's just a simple mistake and not a tactic to get more revenue from people with grey area claims. Putting all this insurance jargon in the quote and claims process that most people don't know the real meaning behind is certainly not helping.0 -
Still doesn't make sense - no fault means your insurer didn't pay out. In which case your NCD is not affected!
Maybe seek full clarification from them on how it is a no fault claim (for your own protection in future should other insurers challenge this entry)0 -
According to the RAC Glossary A non-fault claim is when you have been involved in an accident where someone else is to blame.
Which when I filled in the quote section requesting "Who was at fault?" and I put "Other party" I think that's the correct response.
Once this is sorted I might call them back again, or I might just leave it until next year and see what happens. I have the paperwork explaining the situation and all claims made by me are in good faith and as far as i'm concerned completely correct.0 -
A really odd development, I received a letter today saying:
"Your policy has been updated with this information with immediate effect and there is no change to the amount you currently pay for your insurance."
So I called the insurance company to find out why whey are not lowering my premium, but they said my premium had reduced by £165 form the lowest value quoted! So now I'm paying £435.
I assume the letter I received was referring to pay monthly customers. Refund should hit my account on Monday, so I'm really pleased I looked into this after all. I've also decided not to rock the boat by going back to my underwriters to ask any more questions.
I've saved £765 in total. :money:0
