So quite a few of us on this forum "grow their own".... I need to have a go :j
I used up my chilli this week which was my first attempt at batch cooking and i was so grateful that all I had to do was warm it up (once defrosted) and boil some rice. I will definately batch cook more of this... definately a contender ( I need to grow my own chillis )
I've stuck to the meal plan this week and hopefully I can plan next week tonight so that I can hopefully go the shops after work tomorrow. I would like to get into this routine but sometimes the shops dont have the stock Friday evenings. I'm actually at an engagement saturday and want to enjoy the afternoon and evening celebrations.

I freeze my chilli with rice you just need to cool and freeze the rice as quick as possible. Chillis are easy to grow and freeze well, I'm using last years crop still.
You can grow most salad type leaves, spinach, chard, radish, beetroot etc really easy in pots. It's great to pop out in the morning and pick lunch. If you like herbs most do well in pots and parsley grows well from seed. This time of the year you can plant straight out in the garden in the pots and they should start to sprout really quickly. Go to Wilkos or £land buy their cheaper seeds and pots

I've been lurking on these pages for years and can't find the tutorials on how to post so I hope this ends up in the right place! Ref Brambling's post about growing salad leaves and herbs etc from seed - another idea is - if you buy one of those pots of living salad leaves from the supermarket and plant them in a bigger pot, or the garden, (space plants a little apart) they will grow on for ages. Also if you buy a pot of ready grown parsley and plant it out rather than keep it in the little pot, that will last for ages too£2 Savers Club 2018 No 18:)0

I had a great crop of chives from a few seeds in a pot last year and when I harvested them I diced up and froze them and have used them all through the winter in soups and stews and fish dishes.Really easy to grow ,virtually onion flavoured grass
I bought my DD a tiny Jalapeno seeding before Easter when we were at the Chilli farm on the IoW. She has nurtured it on her windowsill in the dining room and this afternoon I noticed there are five tiny jalapenos just starting to grow, with luck they will mature over the coming nice weather.
I have a couple of potted tomato plants on the patio that I have been bringing along, they are quite sheltered from the spring winds so hopefully I will get a good few off of them in the coming months They have to go into bigger pots this weeked.
Not a huge amount but to me as the saying goes every little helps0 -

I'm actually really enjoying not shopping and using up what we have in the house. It's surprising what you can make from all the odds and ends and how tasty everything is. On Sunday for breakfast I used up all the odd slices of bread crusts I had saved in the freezer. I used it to make French toast which we had with sliced banana and maple syrup. It was absolutely delicious. I made a batch of white chocolate and cranberry cookies which were a definite hit with the little ones. Really hoping I can make it to the end of the month now with just some bread and milk to buy.0

We do this too. Currently have basil growing really well on the windowsill which we've had over 6 weeks. parsley as well but this isn't doing quite so well, mostly because I harvested most of it!
A couple of weeks back we bought some living salad, once we had cut it all I placed the tray in the cold frame ad I noticed this morning that it's starting to grow back :j0
