Cooking for one (Mark Three)

Good evening everyone,
I'm laughing at the lurking cats, though having had pooches (and not tiny ones) for many years I can testify that they are just as bad!:rotfl:
A definite plus of CFO is that majority decisions are so easy....;)
When it comes to porridge I'm strictly an oats, water & salt kind of girl with just a splash of cold milk on the top once served. As kids we used to squabble over who got the "top" of the milk on theirs - my mother had a strict rota! I don't really eat much dairy, mainly because I'm not so keen on sweet stuff so yoghurt plus fruit or cereal in the morning is something I only eat rarely, though enjoy when I do. I mainly use yoghurt in cooking or as a dressing/dip so it's never been worth my while to make it. Apart from in my hot drinks I usually use milk in soup or sauces. Cheese on the other hand I could eat every day but need to watch due to the high salt and as I'm getting older find my tummy doesn't like too much or too often:(. I don't think I've ever come across a cheese I haven't liked including things like "processed burger slices" at one end of the scale to pungent blue ones that take over the fridge no matter how many tubs they are stored in......:rotfl:
I'm so pleased you've got some festive time off sorted out Brambling:), probably not what you picked and as you say worth using a holiday day on the 24th - though if it's usually only a 1/2 day I'd be chancing my arm and suggesting only a half days leave or some time owed is used!
LO ham , b&s plus piccalilli sounds like a perfect meal Farway:D.
I've a quiet but reasonably productive day and definitely feel happier on my feet this evening after a couple of horizontal hours this afternoon. The roasted tomatoes yielded just over a litre of passatta which has been portioned and frozen. After my lie down I got stuck into some paperwork for the out of school group over the next couple of weeks I just need to knuckle down and get their finance stuff into some sort of order so they can see where they are!
Dinner is prepped and just needs roasting , I do lie a chicken & veg tray bake as after a quick bit of chopping and deciding on what veg and herbs & spices they just need left to it in the oven.Tonight with the chicken it's lemon, garlic, paprika, rosemary and thyme with sweet potato, cauli, courgettes and red onion as the veg.:)

Good morning everyone,
I ended up being far too late going to sleep as I started the Margaret Atwood "The Testaments" and was loathe to put it down, consequently I'm a tad sluggish this morning as I was up at my usual time.
There was a hint of frost first thing but it has clouded over now and it's to be wet for the rest of the day. I don't need to head anywhere so I'll catch up on some chores and then get stuck into some admin.
LOs for lunch and probably veggie pasta for dinner.0 -

I have 3 black cats. I had 6 of them at one point.:A
I also feed another black cat that sits outside my house. I think he must belong to one of the neighbours but I made the mistake of feeding him once, about 5 years ago!:rotfl:0 -
I've had white toast with marg. I meant to have jam but I forgot.
I'm going out to eat tonight quite early so I might just have a yoghurt and some fruit before I leave.2025 GOALS

Ours was born feral and is very much a solo artiste. I'd post a photo but that's probably a really good way to wreck the thread, so I'll resist
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?0 -
I think the thread is long running enough to cope just fine with a cat photo :rotfl:0

I had 2x toast and scrambled eggs for breakfast.
I then "took to my bed" and later on reached out to finish off my fizzy jelly sweets, then I dipped into the box of honey/nut cornflakes I bought and thought I'd keep in my room0 -

Mixed weather day, sun right in my eyes on way to town, hammering down when I came home, & now sun's out
Last night's bubble & S was delight, with obligatory burnt bits on the bottom
Went mad in W8rose, so mad I qualified for a "free" paper.
They have posh No1 choc on offer so I bought some. It is nice though, sort of one square only stuff, as if:o
Then posh Spanish marmalade on offer, some of that, oh look, super fruity intense strawberry jam on offer, yep, got that as well:D
Lunch was last of the corned beef + chutney in a sarnie
Dinner, I think it's use up toast with cheesy beans & couple of fried eggs
Should I fancy something sweet it'll be one the new jams on toast I expect
Caron, likewise on cheese, the only ones I'm not keen on are the smokey ones but even then if it's there I'll eat it
PattyP, full cream is much nicer, and guilt free since they changed their minds about cholesterol & dairy. I find any other is just whitened water
Nukers are ideal for CFO porridge & scrambled eggs. I did see on Youtube poaching eggs in one but not yet tried, looked easy but timing is everything before it explodes:eek:Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
