    Good evening everyone,
A kitkat PN - maybe a wee takeaway treat at the weekend then?
Glad the use ups of the random bits is working so far Dundee Doll:)

Farway - if you enjoy the granola but don't want to pay £3 for a small amount why not make your own? My friend does as she's a keen baker and tends to have bits and bobs of fruit, nuts etc. lurking. I know you bake quite a lot and make porridge so you probably have most of the stuff in the cupboard.
unrecordings - hopefully you'll feel more like it tomorrow. I use a lidded plastic mug for lots of things. I got three cheap ones when I was still working to transport soup etc. for my lunch and use them lots. The handle and lids are so handy if I'm having a very unsteady day.

Late on parade today as I spent a chunk of time down at my Dad's mainly tidying up his garden. Nothing too bendy as I'm still off kilter but his garden looks much better and the flat got a good airing while I was there. Needless to say my own garden remains untouched but my house isn't up for sale so it can stay untouched:cool:, though I do hope to get a bit done tomorrow. My sis popped round later in the afternoon for a cuppa and a catch up. After she went home I sorted out a fuel order which should get delivered next week. It was really pleasant in the sun today but now it's getting dark it's turning pretty chilly and I want make sure I have plenty of stove supplies in before the "proper" cold weather hits. So far a small fire in the colder evenings has been more than enough to sufficiently heat the downstairs but it's probably only a few weeks before the CH will be going on for a bit in the morning.

Lunch was an egg mayo sandwich, carrots sticks, cherry toms and the last fig. While the eggs were cooking I chopped a load of veg for the smoked sausage hash I was going to make yesterday and popped them in the SC. About an hour ago I added a tin of baked beans and a small tin of corn. It smells and tastes lovely and just needs dishing up!:) There will be LOs, at least enough for lunch tomorrow and one for the freezer.

I just nuke a pack of noodles in a pyrex jug, then eat them from the jug with a fork. I find the jug handle makes it a handy way to hold the jug, rather than a bowl which needs to be sat down. Once eaten, the kettle's full of boiling water so it's a small squirt of liquid and fill the jug with water and leave it in soak in the sink until later (often the day after) :)
:D As silly as it sounds its so obvious an idea I'd completely overlooked it. Does make sense now I've read it too. Also fits along with the 'ultra low mess and cleanup' too, which was my initial idea of the post. But I've been beaten to it hehe.

(Although I suppose if you did get a noodly pot and a plastic disposable spoon/fork then there's no mess) but that's a step too far.

Actually has anyone noticed the prices lately for plastic/paper plates and 'temporary' cutlery ? It seems to vary completely wildly from about 80p or something for a few to £3-£5 :rotfl:
Now that's a fantastic idea. As I can only use one hand, and given the size of packet instant noodles I can only use one bowl (a pie dish actually) but drinking that last bit of soup base can be fraught with danger. I've got my gran's pyrex jug but it's too small... ...additional thinks - some kind of teapot ?

    I'll stop there.
I concur on the 'idea' from the quote above too.

Teapot is not as silly as it first sounds although there should be something slightly more erm 'purposeful' for this ? I can't immediately think of anything though, sorry. Then again teapot if its ceramic has the strainer holes, so you're probably in reality about the same as a straw in terms of 'diameter' :( hmm.
I've had some sparkling water with lemon and a passion fruit yoghurt and a banana.

I'm going out to eat tonight at a vegan restaurant.

I will probably have something else before I leave obviously. I might have a chickpea salad. Today is going to be a healthy day!:A

Meal out sounds good. :) Enjoy! Although I'd probably not visit (aside from costs) a place or restaurants in general I should take a look at a nearby (if there is one near here! probably town centre nearest!) at their online .pdf / price list or something to see what is 'on da menu'

Stuck tonight, its either some nice peas+carrots with or without the not nice sweetcorn or with a blob of mash and/or gravy. The mash will be slightly annoying as I had to expend on a sachet of it oops. Oh well. :D , I'll decide in half an hour. Not that hungry anyway at this moment.

I took a little trip out earlier, the objective was to get three 4ldi bags for life to help me sort out stuff. They're handy for gathering leftover bits and bobs to be further sorted out, or holding things together until I've got a box that fits... but I thought "you can't go in and queue JUST for their bags, so I picked up a pot of tuna/sweetcorn sandwich filler.

As I've a loaf of bread I've had three tuna/sweetcorn sandwiches today. Also 4-5 kit-kats (lost count).

Photographed the fridge/freezer for sale. Put it on at what I thought was a cheap price as I don't want to be panicking about it in the last few days. Only had one comment on it so far... somebody asked for a photo of the outside too... which I supplied, then a chap popped up and offered his man/van services. She asked how much and said where she was.... it turned out she was 9 miles away in a flat. He quoted £30 to there and she went dead quiet :)

Flogged another couple of items today on FB. It's slow going on there, not ideal with a deadline!

Hungry, but "been on the go" all day - not actually very active/achieving much, but pottering about ... sighing and staring at piles of stuff mostly.

Andy I think they're trying to dissuade us away from plastic cutlery as it's single use plastic :)

I did start going through my larder cupboard earlier trying to get some ideas for my menu plan for next week and tidy/sort at the same time but the call of the kettle side tracked me :D. If the SE has unexpected heavy snow this winter I'm not going to starve  tin tomatoes or rice anyone :o. looking at the freezer I think between now and Christmas I only need to shop for fresh foods and toiletries  no comments please PN :rotfl: having a good store cupboard is in my DNA although as I CFO maybe ......

I was asked today at work about the four gooseberries on my desk weren't they too sharp to eat raw  they were greengages  I suppose they were round and green! Then we had a discussion on what the figs were. If anyone likes figs they are 75p for four in Sainsbobs at the moment :)

Lunch was the last of the chicken soup, DundeeDoll you're not the only one eating the same lunch four days in a row :)

Dinner was risotto using up the last of the chicken and gammon

I've got a mental image of something (it'll be some kind of oriental teapot) but tk maxx can be really good in the kitchen department - I got a kind of extra large traditional style teacup with feet last year which is perfect for stacking & filling pitta bread (cut in half for pockets) with one hand

Caronc: I'm doing a day on/day off at the moment so I don't overdo it and pull things. Ctching up in the garden is my priority, so fingers crossed when it's raining next week we'll venture up to tk maxx (and wilko)

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?
  • I've had toast and marg this morning with lemon and ginger tea.

I'm going to make a batch of soup later, broc, tomatoes, sweetcorn and the last of the rainbow carrots.

I'm having a strawberry yoghurt and a couple of kiwis at some point. Not sure about dinner at all.

It was delicious. I had homemade soup and seeded bread and then corn chips with guac and houmous.:)

    Good morning everyone,
Sounds like a lovely meal Wednesday:)
Don't overdo it today unrecordings - slow and steady wins the race etc. (must take my own advice on that one:rotfl:)
It's beautiful morning here and it's forecast to be lovely for a couple of day, quite warm too. Locally it's the September holiday weekend and lots of places are closed today, tomorrow and Monday. I'm glad I remembered as I was going to head to the library tomorrow as I have an errand to do in town in the afternoon. Thankfully I've enough books left to see me to Tuesday.

Gardening beckons for me today and I've just booked the chap that does the heavier garden stuff for me to come and cut back a few bushes and trim a tree in my front garden. I can manage most stuff but those I struggle with. He'll also take all the trimmings away which saves a faff of trying organise someone to take it to the tip for me.:)
There's lots of LOs from last night which I'm going to freeze as it's too nice a day to have a hot lunch. For lunch I'll use up the remaining egg mayo I made yesterday and have that with cue sticks (I've a couple ready to pick and a good few more on the way:)), toms and some fruit. I've a chicken & mushroom slice thingy for dinner tonight which just needs a quick bake, while the oven is on I'll roast a tray of toms to make passatta as I have loads ripe.
  • Yesterday chicken was fab, think it was ras en hamout or whatever which I had put in bag before freezing so it was soo good. Got to start sorting freezer out so I can stock some meals for one as the doc has put me forward for my knee op, hopefully late Oct. and although will go to dd for a seek or so, will need easy stuff when I come home.

Lovely sunny day here again but noticeably darker in the morning now

Thanks for Idea about HM granola Caron, I've yet to sample it, nearly did last night but turned to yet more of the Blue Vinney & crackers

I'm getting into cheese & cracker habit now:o, so while in L's this morning bought some posher cheeses, Stilton & Brie as well as my bog standard Cheddar stuff
Then looking through next week's offers I note it is cheese & wine week from next Thursday. I may just top up with some of them, but not the garlic riddled one:p

Apart from extra cheese & boring bleach there was nothing YS to attract me

Today's meals are rinse & repeat of yesterday
Mini pork pies & mustard for lunch
YS C & O slice + salad for dinner. This time though it's use up of LO HM spud salad instead of chips

I put my fridge freezer up for sale at a good price as I'd rather "lose a few ££s" on what it MIGHT be worth if I had time to wait for a buyer, than run the risk of here being no market for 2nd hand F/Fs. It turns out there is a market :) I could probably have got £25-30 more if I'd known that.

I am now without a fridge or freezer. It went fast-ish, which is good.... I advertised it early so I wasn't panicking and "stuck with it". It did go quicker than I expected! And the man viewed and took it immediately.

I had to empty it, so I've a little bit of marg in a tub and about 200g of cheese.

For lunch I had beans and cheese on a crust of bread. I have one more crust of bread so I'll have the other half of the beans with more cheese later.

From now on.... food will be erratic.
