I have had toast with vegan cream cheese. Yum, I haven't had that in a while.

I need to have the last of the lentil soup and the rest of the cherry yoghurt later. Not together.:rotfl:

    Sunny but nice breeze blowing
Porridge breakfast, made a fresh batch of yoghurt and then had to crack on with clearing the Glory Hole and it's collapsed shelves

It was bit of a treasure hunt, unearthing things long lost or forgotten.

For some reason a ciggy lighter was in there, the old style petrol & flint driven ones, a million cable & pipe clips, circular saw, hacksaw, jigsaw, old books with pages stuck together, reel of co axial cable, mystery black box with 3 pin plug input, could be old TV booster from pre digital TV days. Reads a bit like the Blankety Blank conveyor belt;)

I also found my long lost coco de mer shell, bought years ago on run ashore in the Seychelles long before it had an airport & ships were the only visitors

I had to stop the clear up, back playing up so a co codamol break taken

I've bashed the rump steak for dinner, now marinating awaiting it's destiny tonight. Very likely with side salad + frozen chips

Lunch, probably cheese & salad sarnie

My lamb chop was delicious, slowly savoured and nibbled, I nearly dropped when he said the price and I had to give him most contents of my purse, It was a very good chop, lean and luscious. I

I love lamb chops, but like you the price is a factor. I've been spoiled now because I bought some organic, free range, Southdown reared lamb chops in farm shop for XCFO, and now I want more.I just know all others can only be second best, especially as I'm a bit ethical & seek out non Halal slaughtered

PS, temptation has plopped into my mailbox, Quid a packet offer on seeds, I've already got 5 types of toms + beetroot in my basket:o

I give in and have not prepared a single veg, lunch was simply an egg, sardines, tomato and sauerkraut and some biscuits. Yes I am busy, my new neighbour brought my wheelbarrow back, my pride and joy with 2 wheels, he is poorly right now with a streamer of a cold so I forgive him, used it for very very many heavy soil and stone laden trips over 2 weeks and it was very dirty!! and left by my gate. I`ll have to think that it was his cold doing that, he seems nice. So I have cleaned and oiled it and gave the handles a good wash. To tell the truth I won`t be so quick to offer to lend stuff, I expect people to look after my tools like I do

My washing on an airer, 2 full loads, blew over at least 3 times, bungee brainwave, 2 tying airer to the bench and all secure now. Parcels then tip and to the hardware shop and I need more biscuits, workman might come tomorrow

    Good afternoon everyone,

Scorching here and not a breath of wind, time for me to retreat to the cooler part of the house after tackling a pile of ironing. I'm melting....
Once the sun has gone over a bit I want to pot chilli plants into bigger pots, sew some more radishes and put weedkiller in the slab cracks.
Rollmops & salad for lunch and veggie pasta for dinner tonight.
  • Treated friend to b'day carvery yesterday so brought home roasties/mash/cauli cheese, never bring home the meat. Was still full last night so had cheese and biscuits n crisps so making a l/o cooked veg sort of pie for tonight, will add an egg I think, with some of my home grown salad veg (showing off).

    Good evening everyone,
My it's been a cracking day here and to be hotter tomorrow before breaking on Saturday afternoon. I'm melting at 27C so dread to think how folk in most of Europe are faring.
I ended up not getting the weedkiller down as by the time I was ready to do it I wasn't sure if the shadier parts would have time to properly dry before I watered the garden. A job for tomorrow as apart from dealing with my grocery order late morning I plan to spend most of the day in the garden no doubt following the shade around it.:) I did pot on the chilli plants and sow some more radishes but mainly lurked in the shade with a book.

My first cucumber is big enough to pick so I've cancelled the one I had ordered. It will be lovely to have one that tastes of something and looks as though it will be a bumper crop despite only having 2 plants instead of my usual 3 or 4 this year .:D
Spaghetti tonight with a "use up bits in the fridge" veg & cream cheese sauce. I was going to make pesto as my basil pot is huge but cba tonight - one for the "to do" when the weather breaks.

I try to eat less but better quality meat, I picked up some lovely Dorset lamb on offer and then reduced from the meat counter in W*itrose a couple of times earlier in the year and wished I had the room in my freezer to buy more as it was beautiful meat.

Nice breeze here today so not to warm to walk lunchtime, although it's meant to ramp up for Saturday before dropping again.

Lunch today was another salad this one using watercress and YS pastrami as the protein. I had some iberico pork loin in the freezer brought YS (of course) or i won't have brought it :) I cooked both steaks and plan to eat one tomorrow for lunch, I was tempted to eat both as they were really flavoursome and very tender just seasoned, sealed on the hob and popped in the oven for 9 minutes :). served with runner beans, tender stem broccoli and roasted asparagus :D. Piel de sapo melon for pudding I find them sweeter than honeydew, really refreshing in the warmer weather :)

Love the sound of your dinner Brambling.:) When it comes to meat/fish I'd much rather have decent stuff but have it less often or a smaller portion. I do still buy sausages, the odd kiev etc. (I've a pack coming tomorrow) so far from perfect in my "standards" ;) but I do find that if I shop savvy with the online butchers etc, I can get high welfare stuff for much the same price as SM standard offer. It does help that I don't mind doing a bit of butchery or the prepping/ cooking of cheaper cuts. This week my main meals have been 2 meat based (1 large chicken thigh, small rump steak) to 3 meat/fish less so far (asparagus tart, veggie moussaka, veggie pasta). I also make a lot more dishes that are meat-light(er) than I used to i.e. I might use chicken stock or a smidge of chorizo for flavour.

It was simple and quick to cook Caronc but really tasty :). I've gone back to eating more veggie or fish base meals or as you say cooking in chicken stock or adding a little chorizo or pancetta to taste if required. It could take a while to eat what's in my freezer :rotfl: I'm lucky there's a couple of good butchers in town and the 'game' man who comes to the farmers market in season.

I cooked extra veg tonight so tomorrow I just need to cook some salmon and heat the veg for an easy tea :D

I had toast again for breakfast!:D

It's not too hot here, but it is meant to be very hot tomorrow.

My friend says it is awful in France, far too hot.
