I had a lovely sunny day with my elderly great-aunt in Cambridge yesterday. She's in fine form, and despite my protests, whipped me up a freezer lunch of chips, chicken portion and peas.
And when I said, "yes please" to the offer of a choc-ice, she appeared with a Magnum! That's an upgrade!
Then her daughter arrived, who I very rarely see. She's a generation up from me (my dads cousin), so I'm not sure what that makes her. But we all took a walk down to the village fete, which was nice.
Today I had 2 boiled eggs for breakfast, then went to take the twins strawberry picking. Filled 3 punnets, left 2 with them and bought one home for me. I've just had a bowlful with some squirty cream, and seriously considering another bowl. It's a big punnet, and as "pick your own" are never very cheap (paid about £4.80), I want to make sure I eat them while they're fresh. Ideally I'll eat most of them today, and finish them off for breakfast tomorrow.Because it's fun to have money!

I suppose with planning it could be done, like no food for a day or two but even then I bet tums would grown after a bit of wolfing down
Spotted some ripe raspberries in garden, with the heat due this coming week I may have enough with them & my strawbs for a pud later in week. That'll be my first real "harvest" this year

Farway, PN stop trifling with me
My nephew came around this morning to try and remove some dogwood bushes at the end of the garden, I replace trees with 3 very small plants when I moved in 14 years ago and they proceeded to take over the back of the garden, I have tried to kill them previously and most years I've pruned them to the ground at the wrong time of year and I still can't kill them  the bottom of the garden is a bit of a jungle so he's going to try and clear it for me
I've been spring cleaningwhich means more than usual weekend clean  pulling the beds out etc then the fun stuff like cleaning the hoover filter. Although I had to brush the stairs by hand after the hose split on my hoover  so inhaler was required
next time I'm getting a bald cat :rotfl: i gave up before washing the lounge/dining room floor as I ran out of steam at least the kitchen and bathroom floors were done and my kitchen cupboards sorted and all the herbs and spices jars etc washed (i buy herbs and spices in small bags at the country weight shop in town)
Lunch was on the run whilst I was on a roll :rotfl: tomatoes, cheese and crackers. I've no idea re dinner I'm hungry so should get off my !!! and make something but cba I never took anything from the freezer this morning. There's a mini pizza in the freezer or it could be an omelette, there's plenty of stuff in the fridge

Good evening everyone,
Back to CFO tonight after a couple of busy days that have passed in a blink! I'm sure my son is going back to work tomorrow for a rest!
The table & chairs from my Dad's are now in my conservatory and fit beautifully. They need a bit of tlc to get them looking lovely but they were my grandparents from the 1930s and built really well. I'm sure there's many more years left in them of adding to the tales they could tell.;) My old cheapie set that I've had for 11 years were past their best though haven't been dumped yet as my son wants them if he gets a bigger flat to start him off. I'm going to treat myself to a new oilcloth to protect the surface as the one I have is basically done. The out of school club will take for "wet/mucky" play days. I do like when things can get passed on and re-used:).
I had lovely evening at my sister's, the weather was kind and we had drinks in the garden before eating it was great to be able to sit out. My sis had cooked Greek which we all love and it was excellent, For afters my friend made a very scrummy cake made with ground almonds, fresh raspberries and lemon. It looked stunning a tasted delicious with the fruit giving it a lovely sharp tang and making it lovely and moist. I managed to eat quite a large slice which is unusual for me.:) My sis popped round this afternoon and I now have rather a lot of cake and a portion of lentil moussaka in the fridge. I'll freeze the moussaka for during the week and probably most of the cake. There's also lamb donner meat LO from Friday heading the freezer as well. Definitely an economical way to cook 350g of lamb mince as so far it's made 3 wraps (my son had 2!) and there's the 2 or 3 portions left.
After a rich meal last night (and quite a lot of gin/wine:o- though I was fine this morning:)) I'm happy to eat fairly plainly today, lunch before my son left was a ham salad roll and tonight I'm have roast chicken, various veg and a baked spud. I've done a meal plan for the next few days and have a small rump steak defrosting in the fridge for tomorrow.0 -
I've had 3 good-sized portions of strawbs during the day, and there's one left for tomorrow.
They were delicious, and just goes to show, you can't beat "home grown". Less than 2 hours between bush and belly is the way to go.
In other news, I put 3 eggs on to hardboil for breakfasts this coming week... Then forgot about them. They were probably going a good 20 minutes! I'll shell one tomorrow and see, but if they're horrible, I'll bin them. GRRRR. Still, in all my years, I've never yet forgotten something on the stove. Never mind.
I shall do a food shop tomorrow afternoon, but there isn't much I need. I've got enough stuff in the cupboards/freezer for evening meals. I just need things for breakfasts and lunches. Pretty much just fruit, milk and cheese on the list. Which is good, as there's only just over a tenner left in my groceries purse for the rest month!Because it's fun to have money!

Dinner ended up as scrambled egg on toast with some white pudding from the freezer
I slightly lost the plot tonight and sorted my breakfast and lunch to take to work tomorrow and then remembered I'm working from homethe electrician is coming back to check the electrics on the house following the couple of issues I've had recently. Oh well will save me time tomorrow

I think outdoor uk straberries are going to be poor this year farway, too much water, they will big and full of water, commercial farmers will be spraying with lots of fungicide. Punters in the supermarkets will think they look wonderful, until they taste them. Not for me this year0
