Good evening everyone,
Deluge here too now Wednesday, started just after I got in after watering the greenhouse:eek:. Up until a short while ago it had actually be a reasonably dry & sunny day here which was great as it was the annual "Glasgow Taxi" visit to the beach today and while the kids always seem to have a great time regardless of the weather it's so much better if it's dry. The town really pulls the stops out with shops etc. decorated for the way in. The visit has been going since the 1940s and is a really popular event locally. It's been lovely to see the photos on FB:D.
I managed to properly bash the top of my middle finger earlier due to being impatient!! Couldn't even swear as the I knew kids were within earshot and I didn't want to tarnish my reputation;) so had to make do with a constrained yelp & mutter:rotfl::rotfl:. It's gone a lovely (not) black colour so hoping I haven't damaged the nail bed too badly as I hate when you end up losing the nail. It's been well-iced & had arnica applied so fingers crossed. Lean to has been relieved off all the c@@p that was in it - all 9 bin bags of it:o. Now comes the challenge of sorting out the squillons of plant pots I want to keep.:)
Opting for sausage & mash for dinner with mushroom & onion gravy, savoy cabbage and green beans.:)0 -
Brambling, I'm surprised there was any rain LO for you, seemed most of it fell here yesterday
Unfortunately you left plenty for us. We had a grey day today until 4ish and it returned
Ouch re the finger Caronc, hopefully you won't lose your nail
Work has started next door with bags of rubbish outside including the fireplace, they did stop at 7pm so I can't complainespecially as I plan to organise builders to do work in the lounge/ dining room, unfortunately the builder I use is busy so it may be a while.
I slept really badly last night a couple of things going round and round in my head all nightI gave up at 5am and got up, I did leave it until 6.45am to text my sister to tell her I was climbing up to clear my down pipe and would text when I was down safely (it's only one floor), I could do with a ladder rather than the steps I have, they're not quite big enough so I could just stretch to reach on tiptoe to clear the grid over the down pipe, just a slight wobble or two  I hate steps
. My sister tells me she's not sure what's worst me telling after the event or sending her a warning text so she can come and scrap me off the patio if needed :rotfl:
Lunch was smoked mackerel and egg salad. Dinner was a HM RM out of the freezer, white beans in tomato sauce and gnocchi.Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -

Be careful Brambling.
I saw in the restaurant Zizzi's today that they have rainbow coloured gnocchi on the menu. Seems a little weird to me, for some reason.0 -
That sent a shiver down my back brambling. I am ladder-brave but only if the ladder is properly secured, a long one-length ladder, with a rope or a stepladder with a click down top step but it has to be by a wall or something that I might need to hold onto, I could not stand on a stepladder in the middle of a room without leaning against the safety section at the top ,I never go onto the top step without the safety aspect. It is psychological but I wobble without and these bones need looking after. Stretching on tip toe  brambling!!
I am sort of thinking about food today, trying still to use stores up, will make 2 honey cakes later after buying butter. I have honey to use. Stir fry today, love stir fry, will just mix with a pasta made from pulse flour. Procrastinating at the moment, waiting in for 2 parcels. I still have mega unpacking to do but need the wardrobes building first. I must say that the house is easy to keep clean, hardly dusty. Looks as though its a good`un for my aging future. Garden is plenty big enough for some veg, fruit and many flowers, no grass. Nothing to do on that, was very compacted and no worms so over 50 bags of humus laid by yours truly on top of forked soil, now covered until autumn and spring
I am rambling, again, bored waiting0 -

Eating ahead is legal, I'm probably eating for August 2019 at the moment0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
My your brave Brambling, your sister's response did make me chuckle:)
After some really heavy rain overnight it was sunny when I got up, back to rain now though!
Bashed finger is throbbing but much less swollen and I think the nail bed had escaped:). I'm having to type one fingered as any pressure on it is very ouchy!
Lamb mince has been mixed up for donner kebabs and is chilling in the fridge, just the sauce to put together now and make some salad & wedges. I've plenty of time as my son won't arrive until mid-evening. I'll pop the meat in the SC around 5 as it only takes a few hours to cook.
Avocado & egg salad for lunch.
If it dries up I'll potter about in the garden if not I might get the duster out and rearrange some of the dust.:rotfl::rotfl:
Probably won't be about much until Monday so hope everyone has a good few days.:)0 -
After the porridge breakfast into town, collect new specs, except they're not ready. Not a problem, I arranged it for Thursday 'cos that is my "into town" day anyway
Just bits & bobs, only YS worth having was a live mint plant 35P. My mint died despite mint never dying. plus a jar of on offer strawberry jam found it's way into my trolley in Iceland:o Own brand, never had theirs so I'll give it a go
The desire for 1950's trifle has come over me, so small tin of fruit + packet jelly also bought, maybe assemble it this weekend. I'll get a lump of sponge type cake from L's tomorrow
Plus a plastic stacking drawer thing from HBs to use in my glory hole once I get round to clearing the broken shelves + assorted odds & s*ds out. A job for round touit:D
Lunch was cheese & salady sarnie
Quick spell in garden, sowed more beetroot so need a dribble of rain to water them in for me
Dinner F & C again, but this time it's with minted peas now I have a new YS plantEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
ohhh 1950s trifle. Oh don`t make me, get the thought out of my head, quick0
-
I've had a banana and water for breakfast then I had spaghetti pomodoro in a restaurant.
I was a bit peckish still so I'm having some mashed avocado on crackers now.

so ... longtime lurker here...
I 'cook' for one. I spend far too much money on food, I eat far too much and I find the idea of meal planning cringey. Those facts are possibly related:-)
I find it challenging to prepare things in advance as I just eat them when making them. I also find it very difficult to eat less than the whole packet of something. At the moment I spend £40-£60/week (shop in Lidl and only buy discounted items as far as fish and meat go) and I'm usually on cheese and crackers by Thursday.
Can someone explain meal planning to me in a way that will make me think I'll be able to to it:-D0
