Morning!
Yet another dull, overcast start to the day out there. Looks more like October out there than mid-June! Luckily, it's not cold.
I'm not expecting work this morning... Will head in for around 12:30... Although yesterday I was called, asking if I'd go in for the morning, as well as the afternoon.
I was so tired yesterday evening, although I did perk up once I'd got to choir and drank my coffee in the car. I also had a nice catch-up chat with a friend... That's one of the only downsides of being a supply teacher... You don't get the friendships with other staff members being built up. Yes, you get "friendly" with people, but not in the way that you start to look forward to seeing particular people and actually count them as "friends".
Luckily, (I guess) I'm a bit of a lone wolf, and don't "need" that day to day "friend time". I get the social, human interaction bit from just being around 30 kids constantly seeking my attention.
Anyway, assuming I'm not called in at the last minute, I'll give the rush hour travel a bit of time to die down, then I thought I might take a little trip over to the retail park. I could do with a few new baking sheets/pans (just cheapy from Poundland is fine for me), and I wanted to have a little look in Next and Deichmanns.
Looking forward to a lazy evening in tonight. Nothing to go out for, once I'm in. I'm thinking early tea, read my book, bath and early night.Because it's fun to have money!

stash/food busting is on my mind, today I have made up 2 nut roasts, fear not I only had to add water. These are nice and I will bake the 2 then slice and freeze. Will probably get veggies out that I can stir fry to go with nut roast. Another 2 hour round trip later, will be the last one, will get my food sorted before I leave, not roll and scone. More like berries yoghurt and granola.
I bought 2 kitkats yesterday, 2 for the children and in a weak moment, one for me. Yuk, it had sweet gooey stuff down the inner chocolate side. Not the kitkats of old. No more, ever, whatever carp did they put in to bring the weight up?
I did buy daim and tunnocks marshmallows, for me, only for me and they are in the fridge, for craving days, hopefully to be forgotten about until I prowl looking for sweet things. Will not be calling into home bargains on a whim again0 -
Had a traumatic visit to Lidl.... but emerged after 25 minutes with some food regardless
Loaf, eggs, cucumber, salad tomatoes.
Jelly babies, wine gums, chocolate oat biscuits.
Chips, fish fingers, sausage rolls.
I'm just boiling four eggs for the fridge. Lots of sandwiches will be consumed between today and 24 June (bread BBE date). Six days to get through 20 slices, which is doable. I never buy bread with only 2 days to go.0 -
Dry but dull start, but I'm sticking indoors today anyway
Brambling, I'm surprised there was any rain LO for you, seemed most of it fell here yesterday
Overnight loaf made in the Panny for today's lunch. I think I'll be joining PN in an egg & cuc sarnie, but with much longer egg boiling since my last snotty effort
Porridge breakfast as usualflubberyzing wrote: »I had the first of the frozen breaded cod portions for my tea just now, and was pleasantly surprised. Honestly, I can't remember the last time I bought frozen fish, but this was good! Just the right size, and a really flavourful batter. It was £3.something from Lidl for 4 portions. So that'll go on my mental list of "things to buy again sometime".
Glad you liked it, I also find L's fish good. In fact today's dinner is L's cod in bread crumbs, chilled not frozen, on offer at the moment
I'll have frozen chips & frozen peas with the fishEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Good morning everyone,
The sun is shining here this morning though how long for is anyone's guess!
I'm for a non-bendy day today but will do some gentle dead heading and might pop the courgettes into bigger pots.
I've 1/2 a baked sweet potato LO from last night so that will be the basis for lunch along with various salady bits. Sausages tonight with either mash or Jersey Royals & various veg. I've minced lamb defrosting to make donner kebabs in the SC tomorrow. I've not made this for ages and my son was delighted when I asked if he fancied it for dinner when he arrives tomorrow evening. We'll have the meat in wraps with salad & sauce and HM wedges.0 -
Keep telling myself I will make lentil dahl but not done yet, I know I will make too much and will feed the freezer again. I too am having aches, went for injection in right wrist last week, only very slight improvement and goinf for one in left shoulder today. Need other knee replaced but cannot bear the recovery period, had other 3 joints done so will put up with pain and try harder to lose weight, difficult whn CFO and love cooking. I use a freeze type spray on my shoulder etc, hard to reach places. There is an expensive version £3 something but HB have one 99p and a heat one too. I think they are helpful. Going to shops for beds after doc but will try not to buy much, absolutely NO FREEZER stuff and no fresh veg really needed but then they will have YS stuff. Ah well.0

hello whm, sorry about the awful joint pains. I wish we got healthier and more flexible as we age, not the other way round. We are the stoic generation, coping with wonkey donkeys and all sorts
I loved my stir fry, mixed in the nutroast crumbs and the small amount of cooked pasta and flat beans, added aminos and it was tasty. Sigh but I failed re the tunnocks, knew I was weak when I bought them, had half the pack, didn`t want them, didn`t need them but down they went0 -
Success on getting non snotty boiled egg & cress sarnie for lunch, and the egg peeled easily so double bonus
Then I had some cake:o so you are not alone Pattypan4Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

It was starting to spit with rain as we were almost home and turned into a deluge as soon as we got in the front door. Very good timing.:A2025 GOALS
