  • I'm not sure if dieting is a good time at this time of year. I got two chocolate torts/tarts yesterday and ate both of them.:o A vegan girl on YouTube said they were lovely so I bought them.

I've had a cup of coffee and then am going to have a green smoothie as a penance.:rotfl:

  • Hello all!

Apologies for the extended absence! I've had a very busy couple of week, and was unwell this past week, with a stinking cold. It's making it's way out now though, and I'm at about 80% better.

Unfortunately though, I broke my toe! Right at the top of my big toe, about level with the base of the nail. I was walking on a wooden walkway on Tuesday, and slipped over. It felt like a soft landing, and I got right back up, no trouble. But my toe got more and more painful as the day went on, and was really quite sore Tuesday night...

Fortunately, it's not horrendously painful and I can walk fairly normally, as long as I don't have to hurry anywhere, and I'm okay to stand. Mostly it just feels a bit tingly and creaky. Which is the same sensation I remember having when I broke my elbow about 7/8 years ago.

These things happen I guess! It could have been much worse. I hope the rest of you are staying drama-free!

Ouch flubberyzing that sounds painful, not what you need. Hope you are keeping off it as much as you can. <<hug>>

Decided for the time being not to put a mini log store on my deck. I'm not sure my plan wouldn't result in soggy logs! Anyway between the stashes in the kitchen and by the fire I reckon I have around 5 days worth between that the bin of coal on the deck should see me through any snow etc. and I'm sure my nephew would pop round if needed. :)

It's blinking cold outside. I had thought I might wash my back windows but don't want to turn my deck into an ice rink as it's due to freeze later. I quite enjoy washing windows but not that much. They'll still be mucky another day.....;)
  • I've had a wholemeal bagel with smooth PB.

Going through the freezer to check/tidy it, I "found something that's chilli based" ... I don't know what it is, but I do know it'll be mince, chilli, butter beans.... so nuking that up with some spaghetti for lunch.

    ETA 5-6 minutes.

All this Advocaat talk just got me giggling at a memory: My ex once went to Amsterdam, obviously enjoyed the weed cafes a bit too much, missed his flight home due to being wasted, n arrived home at 5am.He fell in through the door and presented me with a bottle of Advocaat.I was that mad, that I threw it into the road :rotfl:

All this Advocaat talk reminded me I used to make my own brew at Christmas, MIL loved it in Snowballs, very 1970s:beer:

Rump steak out of fridge to reach ambient temperature before cooking, that steak will be the longest bit of cooking this weekend, rest was fry egg, nuke oats, Actifry frozen chips, blacken toast & salads.

  • Done all my jobs, & then some!
It's actually really nice to see the house clean, spick & span. Even dried the mountain of dishes & put it all away so the sink is clear.
The mound of papers that needed filing/shredding is gone off the kitchen table. Hob top is clean. & Bathroom is gleaming white!

Following PN's lead I'm going to have a root through the freezer, tidy it up & see what's actually in there. I'm sure there's some things that I don't even know what they are...

All I've eaten today is two cups of coffee, a cup of tea & 6 choc digestives.
Tea likely to be bangers & mash with gravy & onions as I've two potatoes that need eating up.
